We specifically told ticket sales that we wanted to ride the gondola, leaving about 5-6 pm, EAT dinner and take pictures of the sunset! We were told to purchase ticket, pay an extra amount which would give us extra credit towards our DINNER tickets. She even told us which foods were her favorite in the restaurant at the top. We boarded the ride about 5:30. Upon arriving, we discovered that the Bistro was no longer serving food--just drinks and snacks (chips, etc). We got a beer and margarita, gave her our $30 food tickets and were then told we owed her $1.08????? We complained the next day. At this point we are out $84.00 + $1.08. They called us back and offered us ONE (1) free ride---- which meant we had to purchase another $30+ ticket... By the way "twilight" tickets are only $15. Do the math and you will see we are out $54. We are very dissatisfied....
Read moreItâs $50 per person to ride the gondola (astronomical). The worst part is that they donât advertise their pricing so you can make a decision prior. Obviously we rode it because it was our first time in Colorado but there are multiple locations with free gondola rides. Or just going to Aspen and getting the full experience. Then at the top of the mountain they have multiple activities for children - trampoline for 3 minutes (they time you) is $18 and tubing (one ride down) is $22. We didnât even stay to find out how much the food is. Even the employee in front of the gondola said none of the activities are worth it except hiking because itâs free. Itâs a very nice view but that can be found at multiple mountains. The town vail is very quaint, not many people of color but...

Wow...unbelievable
My girlfriend and I went to Vail for a weekend away. We were excited to rent bikes and take them up on the gondola to ride the various trails at the summit. However, when we got to the ticket office, they told us it was $40. My emotional response was somewhere between shocked and offended. We actually paid less for the bike rental than for the gondola. Truly unbelievable.
So Vail, after spending hundreds on your lodgings, restaurants, and various shops, you gouge us with this ridiculousness?
We will be taking future business to ski towns where we don't feel so blatantly...
