Kindness for me is part of the Holy Trinity of restaurants and cafes. Kindness… Good Food… Good price. All of these are part of one thing, an indivisible whole that takes on a meaning and a life of its own. So here’s the new kid in town and from the moment you walk in the door you can feel the owner’s energy lighting up the atmosphere. She was kind and proud, so excited to see her joy in the welcoming community. I mean, you never know til you know, right? Arriving for the first day of school unsure of how the kids will treat you… and it works out, they recognize you and you realize you are home!

I came in and it was packed, but the feeling of the room was first night on Broadway! I wanted the dirty horchata, but it was sold out, and in fact they ran out of chocolate early in the day, but these are things you can forgive on the first day. I had a Cordato which was a mystery and a Pan Dulce which was fresh and comforting. The Cordato was so bitter that I balked for a second. This is not something I am used to, but it was smooth too. It felt like wise old women who sit together and talk politics and change, like history and strength. After a moment the bitterness passed and was replaced by dreams of faraway places and cattle roaming across a beautiful land. Then it occurred to me that I should be dipping the Pan Dulce into the Cortado and suddenly the heavens opened! I still want a Dirty Horchata but I think I will have plenty of opportunities! The place feels right, like it already belongs. I felt honored to be at Carino Coffeehouse for the opening day! To feel a little part of that excitement. Everything flavored with...

So excited for another coffeehouse to open in downtown, across the street from my favorite bookstore (Birdhouse Books) !!! Even better that it's women owned & has specialty drinks & pastries from the owner's Mexican heritage.

The syrups lined up on the bar caught my eye and I wanted to try the Panela syrup - the owner mentioned that it was 'like a simple syrup'. I decided on a large latte with the panela syrup & pumpkin - and it was SO DELICIOUS. Better than any chain's 'pumpkin latte' by MILES.

Both of the owners were there, & they were very sweet. Service was fast!

I like the variety of seating options, but I'll have to come back later to really take advantage of them & soak in the vibes, since today's order was to-go.

(P.S. to the owners: this review was written by the girl that shouted CONGRATULATIONS!!! out the car window at the two of you the night before grand opening. So excited to see y'all getting so much success...

Beautiful and spacious new (to me) coffee shop in Vancouver! I’m a harsh critic when it comes to lattes and rarely go somewhere new but this place did not disappoint! The latte was delicious and I’d definitely come back and try different fun drinks. They also have a case of pan dulce that I’d like to come back and try.

I came on a Monday morning and by 10:30 it was pretty full! Because the space is so open, it was pretty echo-ey, and the conversation volume feels amplified. It’s not a big deal, lively vibes are great, but if you’re going there to enjoy coffee while working you may want to consider bringing headphones!

It’s a beautiful space and I can’t wait to see how they...

I drive from SE Portland to come here and get their habanero Mexican coffee…Other places I have gone to and tried their Mexican coffee, doesn’t even come close to what they make here at Cariño! This place is special and very unique. The touch of cacao nibs in the drink, are my favorite! This was my first drink I ever ordered from here, and I’ve been hooked on it! It is my top favorite! If you like chocolate with some heat, try it!!! And for a crunch, add the cacao nibs’ It’s a relaxing atmosphere and cozy set up. love the flooring! the owners are absolutely lovely!
