Spent some time with Capt. Jay trolling the edge for Pelagics. What a trip we had! About 40 minutes after dropping the lines in a wolf pack of bigeye tuna hit the spread. Fish on! Then another, then 2 more, then two more after that. Six fish on at once. 5 made it to the boat largest was 283 lbs and we just started. After cleaning up the cockpit we were back on the troll. About an hour and half goes by and the long rigger on the starboard side starts screaming again fish on! Twenty minutes later my wife had a beautiful 58 pound wahoo her personal best. Back on the move we go. We picked at longfin tuna here and there for the next 3 hours which we released. Captain Jay asked for more ballyhoo in the spread that he saw something floating ahead. It was a 60’ long tree loaded with Mahi. We hooked a couple up as we made the first pass and then did the bait and switch thing until they turned off. We caught 31 but only kept 8 for the table all in the low to mid 20lb class. It was one of those epic trips we will never forget for the rest of our lives. Capt. Went out with my brother-in-laws and my 8 year old son for a near shore trip. Cpt Jay and his First Mate Blake were great. They made our experience a true highlight of our vacation and my son couldn’t have been happier. Smoke Show is top notch boat and the pride that is held on it shows.
