the two star review was definitely not for lack of trying on the captains part. we spoke with him for maybe two minutes at the beginning of the trip and very briefly at the end. all he did was stay up top and keep trolling looking for schools of fish.first mate spent half his time up top with the captain looking as well. it was a beautiful day and relatively calm seas, unfortunately the fish were far and few in between. we trolled the same area with four other charter boats (spread out) for two hours before finally moving to another area with the same luck. little to nothing. just beware it is fishing not catching. Don't have the same bright idea as me paying someone will catch your kids and yourself fish. spent nearly a weeks salary for a slow boat ride and 11lbs on 5 fish (being generous on weight) we caught that they kept (with our permission of course)for bait!! the captain apologized and stated this is the worst fishing he's ever had and had no clue what he was going to do with the next 4 hour charter after us. the owner of the boat reached out and apologized in an email for the very slow day as well. it was a nice gesture, not enough to bring us back for another try. The boat was nice, bathroom, cabin, main deck all were clean and well kept. This could easily have been a 5 star review if we would’ve gotten on some fish. Hard to justify in your head spending $800+ for a 4 hour tour and hearing sorry it’s so slow. Again this was only our experience as I’m sure others have had great times as shown by the pictures themselves. If you’re failure rate is low as a company it shouldn’t be an issue offering a discount or credit for a future charter booking as an incentive to bring us back and change this review to a more...
Read moreMission Accomplished! We came to Virginia Beach and Aquaman Charters in search of Cobia. After multiple offshore and nearshore trips my kids and I had never landed a Cobia. The odds were not in our favor as the cloud cover was thick and targeting Cobia typically requires sun to find this tasty and popular gamefish. Because of the unfavorable Cobia conditions, Captain Rich decided to troll near the beach for Spanish Mackerel and Blues. The action was slow and the 7-8 Spanish we caught were small with only 4 keepers in about 1.5 hours. I spoke with the Captain and told him I couldn’t fish like this all day and we discussed shark fishing verses trying a hide and seek method (ask the Captain, I’m not telling!) that was risky but our only real chance to get a Cobia on the boat. Rich is probably the most experienced Cobia fisherman in the area and I told him we would rather strike out trying for a Cobia than riding the beach all day. Rich and Mate Ryan took position on top of the boat and our quest began. YOU CAN SEE THE RESULTS!
Even had we not caught the Cobia, this is still a 5 Star operation. The Captain knew the waters and the mate took good care of us. We appreciated Captain Chris taking the risk and using his skills to find some Cobia to cast towards on a day that would have been a bust for most.
Three on the boat with one keeper! Fishing is like that. You are always 1 cast away from making memories that will last a lifetime. Next time: Tuna?...
Read moreI wanted to spend some quality with my kids this summer. When I asked them what they wanted to do, they both said they wanted to go fishing. More specifically, they wanted to go fishing AND catch some fish. We’ve gone fishing in past but we’ve had very little success. Based on the suggestion of my younger son, we started to look into Virginia Beach. As the search continued, I started googling fishing trip options. After a few conversations, I felt most comfortable after speaking with Captain Nolan and I booked up our trip which was at that point two months away. A few days before the trip, captain Nolan reached out and ran down the plan, it was another smooth conversation. The day of of our trip, we showed and we were greeted by Captain Luke and his 1st mate Fisher. Both of whom made my kids and myself feel totally comfortable. After a brief conversation about what we wanted for the day, we were off. The trip was a total success. We were catching ribbon fish and Spanish mackerels for hours, so many that after a time, we stopped keeping them because we leaving the next day and we could only eat so much. At the end of the trip, Fisher filleted our fish and Captain Luke pointed us in the direction of a local restaurant where they would cook what we caught. The day was complete success, both of my kids were very grateful and I’m already looking forward to our next trip out on one of Captain...
