This place is amazing!
Where else can you go to play tons of games with your friends and not get charged a silly hourly rate for it?
The game rentals are a flat rate and vary from 2-4 dollars. Once you pay for it, that's it. You get the game and go about your business. The game list is also pretty huge. There is a locker towards the front door where they stash all the games and you just walk up and request whatever you want. There are game menu's around the place so you can figure out what you want before you go there.
The service is Amazing. Rich and Beth are very friendly, and if you want to reserve a table for a big party then you can simply email and Beth will answer you in a timely manner. We had planned to get a party of 8 (ended up being 4...friends sometimes, ugh!) to go play Cards Against Humanity. I asked her if she had that copy and if we could reserve a table and she assisted via email and even informed me that I could bring my own cards since there copy was indisposed for that night. Awesome!
We sat upstairs and Beth would come around from time to time to check on our drink levels. Good times! She also said that if she wasn't around that we could always yell down from the balcony and Rich would help from below. We never got to test this because it got pretty packed later on, but we were very close to doing so just to see if they would heh.
There is no food here, sadly, but they have pizza next door that you can order from and they will actually deliver it to your table for you. You also get a 25% discount if you ask for it when ordering and you're at Board Room!
Overall this place is friendly, clean, fun and very very laid back. It may be one of my new favorite bars and I'm not even that big of a...
Read moreOk, I went there on a recommendation that I regret, especially when the tipster didn't end up coming with, as planned. However, I had invited others to meet us there, it was my birthday, and so, I soldiered on...
For all of an hour. The bartender for the evening was just a bit too short/frank.
You usually expect your bartender and a game spot to have a little more "pep," and it wasn't happening. Gave him my ID and didn't even get a "Happy Birthday."
Went to worse as my invited guests started showing up. They didn't know it wasn't a sit-down service spot (again, the original recommeder wasn't there to give the low down), and since we sat close to the bar (less than 3 ft), one of my guest proceeded to get the bartender's attention with a wave of her hand and because he ignored, the other guest tried chiming in (just a simple, hey, she's interested in a drink) he, quite snippingly (and maybe even rightfully so), asked for her ID, a card for the tab, and that, "you have to come to the bar for a drink."
He just wasn't interested in going an extra inch for us where he was for others. He also didn't make an allowance that maybe we didn't know the ropes, and his tone came across as we were a bother. Keep in mind, the place was almost empty with the rain going on outside. You would think he'd want to be a little kinder to guests, considering that fact.
Because it was about how he said what he said and not what he actually said, the four of us decided to close our tabs, tipped, and leave to another spot.
I'm sure the place is great, I have no complaints about the drinks, but the vibe for us was off, and so, we went somewhere that felt a little more welcoming. Maybe I'll be back at a Board Room, and if I did , I'll try the VA....

No food service here, so ask the bartender to see the stack of menus for restaurants that deliver directly to the bar. Takeout Taxi delivers almost anything you could imagine (Thai, Indian, Chinese, burgers, kebab, pizza, Italian...), or you can just walk next door to Flippin' Pizza and pick up a few 18" pies for the table. (25% discount on all deliveries to Board Room.)
Great place to enjoy a few pitchers with friends while getting overly competitive about a game of Pictionary. All the standards are here (Jenga, Sorry!, Scrabble, Cards Against Humanity, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly...) and they also have specialty games you won't find anywhere else (the Cash Cab board game, Harry Potter trivia, & a few vintage finds.) Be ready to socialize with other tables playing Truth-or-Dare Jenga.
Seating can be a problem on weekday nights when big groups take over all the tables, so get there early if you have more than 2. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are pretty sparse, making Board Room the perfect spot for a weekend afternoon Scrabble game with friends or family.
