The first worst comic shop I've ever stepped in. And I've been in shops in 5 different states. I walked in the store just to see what golden, silver, and post bronze era; X-Men, Avengers, FF, Spider Man, Wolverine, Thor, Super Man, and Batman comics. All in either mint, great, or good conditions. As the guy begins to go through my comics, he tells me I could take a look around. I recalled as I walked in and could tell they were sizing me up mentally and gauging me. Which to me was a red flag. But after him saying I could just walk around leaving a good 30 to 35 comics there was another red flag. If he hoodwinked me for 1 or 2 comics chances are I would've been none the wiser. Because most people would give almost anyone the benefit of the doubt. I thought he could cache the comic and say "oh it was right here, I forgot if I said one or two were missing before I walked out. Or creates the situation I could claim they stole a comic book after I left. Either way, for that guy to even suggest someone to casually walk away from about 30 to 35 comics left in the hands of a stranger is crazy. Everybody knows both parties during a deal stay with the merchandise.
So after the guy ran all his estimates, I might as would've gotten more selling him bottled sand. I know the value and between best and worst grade. I literally knew the high, mid, and mean values based on the comic book stock market, Ebay, Amazon, and other price varient indicators. The guy straight up looked me in the eyes and immediately tried to lowball the f**ck out of me. I came in to see was just what I would get offered, and maybe looked to potentially sell. Im by no means trying to get rich or overvalue what i had. I know the deal. That lowball offer was way way too far below even the average asking price. He literally offended my intelligence and I explained all the other price indicators I used to compare what he offered. I walked out with my comics, then the guy pulls a Pawn Stars move. He said wait and tried to offer me a deal still even far below average reserve value. At that point I got rude and walked out. Just be aware the guys working here have a grifters mind frame. They will try read you to the point you can sense it the second you walk into that door looking to potentially sell. And treat you like a junkie walking into some pawnshop. They assume and will take advantage of anyone not knowing At least the mean value of what they have. Do business with them if you want to be ripped off.
UPDATE Judging by the owners response whoever they are assume Im a known regular and have had previous experiences with them which is false. That was the first time I've ever ever step foot in there. So it's obvious the owner is making a generalized blanket statement response. If they're confusing me with another person they're familiar with. How can they specifically know the details and respond to the situation if he or she is confusing me with someone else they've had as a customer. Ive never sold my comics to that shop. I'm very familiar with resell. And have an Amazon FBA, I stock trade, and buy and resell antique or collectible items. So I understand how reselling works. Though i came there just to see how much theyd offer and possibly sell. Its just insulting to be offered roughly only 12% of general market value of the golden age and rare comics. Not even 25% of resell value. This shop operates on ...
Read moreThe place is very spacious with a lot of Collectibles and comic books. They have way more of a selection of the figures than comics. (On the day we visited) my wife bought me a gift card and we visited later on the afternoon and it seemed they were busy earlier, so the selection of everything was kind of disappointing. It was the first time I was able to take my son to a comic book store as well and he was not impressed at all. He tried to joke with the people that worked there, but they acted like we should not even talk to them. We also felt like we were being followed around the whole time we shopped. It seemed they were rotating employees to happen to be right by us "organizing" things that did not need it. They could have at least asked if we needed some help. When we asked for help, it wasn't pleasant and made us feel we should not ask them questions and they just wanted to follow us. I went ahead and spent the whole gift card and then extra on stuff I did not care to get anytime soon just to get out of there. They are very expensive as well. From what I understand, they rarely have sales and old inventory is never kept there to eventually be on clearance. (According to them, they are so good, they sell everything fast and never have anything left. I find that hard to believe. ) I wanted to start collecting again where I left off, and they have NOTHING I was asking for. I was mainly looking for older TPBs, but Heaven forbid I ask for them! I would have been better off shopping online. Try not to treat new people that can be potential regulars, especially a father and son duo where the father is trying to get the son to collect. That day's experience might have made him think even worse about the business. We had over $500.00 on us and not including the gift card. Fix your attitudes. We did not appreciate how we were treated and I'm glad I used the gift card up so I wont feel like I have to come back to see what...
Read moreI will not patronize a business which does not allow open/concealed carry of my "state licensed" right to carry a personal firearm. Point being, a business that enjoys everything this great country has to offer, picks and chooses which rights and privileges it's customers can partake in, regardless of whether your weapon is open FOR EVERYONE TO SEE or not. THAT has already been debated at the state level, hence THE LAW. The criminal element customer does not care what sign you post...only us law-abiding customers do. Thanks for making my original point, I will not patronize a business that DECIDES TO NOT ALLOW LAW ABIDING CITIZENS TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO CARRY A PERSONAL FIREARM OPEN OR CONCEALED. You honor only those who are UNCOMFORTABLE with firearms, and dishonor those who are UNCOMFORTABLE being unarmed. For a business (enjoying the American capitalist system) open to the public, THAT is a shame, and a slap to law abiding OPEN CARRY citizens. There are OTHER comic book shops that SELL COMICS and don't mind my open carry FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, and appreciate my dollar. Hey, IT IS your right though to deny me entry into your business. Do you put little pieces of tape over all the depicted "guns" in your stores to not make your selected few customers uncomfortable? You even sell make-believe guns at your store. No sir, your stance has holes. I hope your staff and customers never have to deal with a worse case scenario because of your short sighted view. A scenario where you need to call the police and have to wait 5 or more precious minutes before they show up WITH GUNS. Have a nice...
