Yikes, I donāt know where to start, but to say that I donāt know what happened to the buyer etiquette at this location. I donāt go into Crossroads expecting to sell, itās something I do outside of my full time job to change up my closet a little bit. Disclaimer, I used to work at Crossroads in the LA city and area as a Buyer. I know what comes in and what we sell and our inventory is constantly changing. We buy contemporary pieces, some designer, always relevant fashion. This location I was just told is label oriented. Girl at the buying counter, I understand you. I know what clothing labels are, Iām verse in design from A-Z. Your store only buys labels and hey, thatās OKAY. Today, I had nothing for you. However the reason Iām writing this is that the scoff and cue that we āare primarily label buyingā and quick dismissal was apparent. Maybe youāre having a bad day, but it turns someone who has been in your standing position a little surprised.
Iām not totally surprised West Hollywood buys a lot of labels, Iāve worked myself through Beverly Hills the last two years, though Melroseās equal location is a little more informative on exactly what sells for them and what doesnāt. I am surprised at the attitude. I am also surprised the woman with the suitcase behind me was out the door the same minute I was even though I had taken a second to adjust and put back the items you heaped back at me. Very hasty, very much back to the breakroom or area you were at before. Also awkward: a coworker at the same counter asking a man nonchalantly, āyou donāt drink? So are you like straight edge then?ā like itās uncommon for anyone for someone to not drink unless theyāre like straight edge or something.
Conclusion: There are many cool Crossroads locations with friendly and helpful staff, this is not one of them. Check out Los Feliz, Melrose, Silverlake,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTwo stars solely because one worker provided me with an acceptable, minimal, level of kindness & customer service (nothing exceptional but appreciated relative to the rest of his coworkers). I don't know what it is about crossroads trading-- every location from north to south the workers are absolutely miserable and rude. This location may be the worse as it is in the heart of West Hollywood where materialism and pretentiousness thrive-- and yet this city and its people are made up of performative activist who claim to preach justice, acceptance, peace & love (I suppose those morals are reserved for their media). I find this quite ironic considering their character reflects those they criticize-- our near and dear neighbors just up in Beverly Hills who carry the same arrogant and supercilious ways while sitting in their mansions.
I can say this store and it's team does one thing really good and that is conforming to the norm of LA coffee shops and second hand stores where you can expect pretentious folks who call themselves activist and claim they're for the people when they really don't give a unprofessional word I can't put in about anyone. Well, at least their consistent with the stereotype.
As for the specific workers I'm referring to from today: there was a shorter black woman with good style and wearing lots of accessories who worked in the try on section as well as a shorter white man with trimmed facial hair and semi long hair at the register going through donated clothes. This was around 12:30-1:15 today. Although, as a whole, the team is simply not great....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBe careful about selling your things here. The buyers at this location are ignorant, uneducated and unaware of the marketplace other than commonplace articles made in China. They are pretentious and insulting. They sell fake Chanel as though it is real and don't know the difference.
If you have quality designer merchandise DON'T LET THEM NEAR IT. For example, say you bring in a current season Versace leather jacket that you paid $5,000.00 for last month, they will price it at $85.00 dollars and you will get 33% of that. If you consign perhaps they will price your jacket at one tenth of the retail price which is $500,00 and you will have to wait a month to get paid, unless for some unspecified reason, they make you wait longer, which often happens. Then once they charge you for writing the check and the postage, you receive less than half of the consignment price. So they have deflated your $5,000.00 to less than $250,00 AND THEY GIVE YOU A LOT OF ATTITUDE while you are coming out a total looser. Its a great place to buy things inexpensively but I highly recommend you sell your good things elsewhere for more money. You do better off having a...
