If you enjoy snarky employees, overly salty salt rooms that make you cough and choke or just enjoy the owner greeting you with rudeness this is the place for you! Over-priced and not worth the money AT ALL! The owner accused of of things in my yelp review that weren’t true and said we disrupted her clients. She had 4 women in a tiny hall that were louder than we were and she was louder than all of them! They cancelled our 25th wedding anniversary massage (which actually turned out to be a blessing). They “locked up” our valuables but the employee kept the key. Not what I would call secure. The salt machine in their large salt room was loud (louder than the music playing), made the room foggy with salt and it’s all I tasted the rest of the day until I showered. It coated our glasses and was just the worst salt room experience we ever had. I still believe they turned the salt machine on high and left it there because we were upset with them for cancelling. The place has a bigger space for selling stuff than they do for the services they provide. It’s so tight and cramped inside I’m surprised they aren’t violated for fire codes! You can barely walk down the hallway without tripping over these huge salt domes. No way to get two people down the hallway at...
Read moreVisited the 1881 Salt Sanctuary for a couples massage with my wife in the large salt room. Check in was extremely friendly and easy and we were guided to the prep hall where shoes are abandoned and you are invited to warm your feet on a salt dome before entering your reserved room. Our hour and a half session was very relaxing with gentle music, aromatic oils on towels, and of course the sensational feel of being surrounded by the saltscape. The professional LMTs asked where trouble spots were but also could identify where a knot or tightness was and work to relieve the issues.
The large room system was a little noisy intermittently at times when the fan was operating to move the salt air through the space but otherwise, very serene with soft lighting, hand crafted accents and even a coarse salt floor where you can feel fully immersed. Yes you will have salty sinus' during and after your session so bring a hankie or use the tissues provided by the caring team at the...
Read moreThis was my first time at 1881, but it was definitely not my first massage. I've gone to the same LMT for over 16 years and after moving to this area about 5 years ago, I decided to finally try someone local rather than continuing to drive an hour on way to get to my regular LMT. I hesitated doing that but decided it was time. My travel experiences have allowed me to test the massage waters in many countries around the world such as India, Nepal, Egypt, Mexico and Peru, but I must say that my experience with Robin at 1881 was one of, if not thee, best massage I have ever had! Her technique is wonderful, and she applies the perfect amount of pressure, heat, and support. She was a pleasure to speak with as well, but did not talk too much during the massage so I could relax and enjoy the experience. I will definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend Robin. Also, the atmosphere at 1881 was very warm...
