I will preface this by saying I lived in Japan for 4 years and I’m always looking to compare my favorite ramen place there ‘Ramen Mutsumiya’. Togo- I’ve ate here for at least 3 times, once to go and twice in the restaurant and overall it is good. I do find the ramen to be better during dine in when it has a chance to sit in the broth. It’s not bad to go, for either the ramen nor the chicken katsu. The space- It is small and meant to be a tribute to the show Naruto. If you’re in there look at the ceiling to see the cool LED clouds. There is very much club music in there but set to a low volume. The service- I find it a bit slow, I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt because this restaurant has gained popularity quite quickly. The second Saturday, they had a line out the door. Some people also sat there after there meal was done holding the table, which obviously was not on staff. But when I went when it was slow, tables were open and 3 workers walked by me and said nothing to me or maybe someone to seat me. The start to finish took over an hour for two people which is wild to me, in Japan it normally would be less than 30 mins. The food- Overall everything was great, slightly expensive but delicious. The pork buns were really good and did not lack flavor. The gyoza was amazing, lightly fried and really great flavors, the dough had a night chew to it. I’ve had the black garlic tonkotsu ramen twice, I find it to have a little too much oil in it; this is my favorite ramen that I try to find here in the states and it’s very close. The beef shank ramen was very authentic, the broth is identical to what I would have in Japan. The third night I ordered a pot pot rice bowl, I got the beef one. The flavors were similar to beef bowl in Japan but I found it weird that it had red bell peppers in it, not typically traditional for that dish. I have had both the mango and strawberry guava drinks and they are refreshing. Lastly, I do find it odd that things are already taken off of the menu, 3 weeks in to opening its doors. Both the sushi and a Japanese cake was covered by stickers. The third night when I went to have the chicken katsu, the fryer was broken so we...
Read moreWhen you first walk into this very unassuming corner shop in a shopping Plaza, you are greeted at the door with an incredible aroma and brilliantly quaint atmosphere. Although a more Americanized portrayal of Japanese esthetics with it being anime inspired, it still bodes well to attract its target clientele; me included. Once we sat down and had time to digest the room, we where handed a menu by the staff. Upon opening it, one will see a small yet focused menu. To me, I find a small focused menu to be the cornerstone of success as one can rest assure what is being prepared will surpass expectation in taste and quality. After my wife an I made our selection: shoyu chicken and pork ramens respectively, steamed soup dumplings, taro Boba for both, and the combos for the soups being a pork bun and Thai tea. The wait was pleasantly short as our first round of food arrived in beautiful fashion. One eats with the eyes first and may I say that the presentation left nothing to be desired. Simple, traditional and most important beautiful. The dumplings and pork buns arrived together with the Thai tea as the first round. After the first bite, we fell head over heals with the dumplings clean, refreshing and robust flavors. The pork buns were supple, flavorful and offered a wonderful marriage of sweat and umami. Soon after we finished, the main course arrived with the tarro Boba. Upon first glance, the Ramen looks stunning almost picturesque in the plating. We dove in and although we thought we have no room left for surprises, we were left stunned. Clarity of the broth, tender yet toothsome noodles, incrediblely paired vegetation and masterfully seasoned meat. The chicken alone had an amazing palette but surprisingly didn't overshadow the simple and elegant broth leading to a beautiful choreography of complexity yet clean and simple. The Boba and Thai tea where both elegant in the dance of sweet and creamy without being overly so as some tend to wander into the realm of overly decadent. With all said and done we left feeling not only full but rewarded in the honest pricing and incredible experience. Will not only be back but will make this a new regular in...
Read moreI wanted to wait a while and go many times to give this place a review. If you have doubts? Just go! This place is absolutely amazing! The crew is absolutely on it, and we have never had a problem with any of our visits! Better yet, they will work with you if you would like to remove certain ingredients from the ramen dishes! How cool, since food allergies are unfortunately a thing for some!! We always get the dumplings as an appetizer and they have Not failed to have a perfect umami flavor! Just be warned, they come out piping hot! Between our friends and us we have tried almost all of the ramen dishes, and you cannot go wrong with any of them!! But the top tier is the Beef Shank and the Spicy Chicken. The first time we went in, we were told that many people were not liking the Beef Shank, and that they may end up removing it. We are so glad they have not!! And be warned the Spicy Chicken is definitely a heavier ramen!! You will be walked out feeling properly full!! You also Cannot go wrong with the boba tea!! Just get it! Any flavor!! When they first opened, they had a section on the menu for sushi that was supposed to be coming in. However it appears that option has been removed, which is both good and bad. Good for our wallet, but bad because we were really curious to see if the sushi was going to be as amazing as the ramen!!
Seriously, the staff and food are absolutely awesome! Even ordering out has been a good experience! Just seriously, take the chance, give it a few times, you will Not be disappointed! Please keep up the awesome work every one at...
