Our family came down for dinner last week, party of 5, a party of 5 there is an automatic gratuity added to your bill ( I believe it was 22% ). One thing I will say, when they bring the food out, it is piping hot, that's a DEFINITE plus!!! Let's get into it........ The girl that waited our table, pleasant young lady, I'm not sure she understood English 100%, we worked through it, not a dealbreaker. It's very loud inside for some reason, not sure what's going on there, but, again, not a dealbreaker. We got 5,6,7 apappetizers for the table, sushi ( wasn't fresh ), spring rolls ( outside was crispy, inside was very mushy, taste was very odd ), we got a variety of deep fried vegetables & deep fried crab ( couldn't tell the difference between any of the vegetables or crab) if I or we ever go back we are definitely going to steer clear of the appatizers. I got the unlimited bowl, first trip, I was under the impression that you could choose only one protein ( not the case ), I got noodles, vegetables, shrimp with terriaki sauce, i filled 2 of the plastic containers with terriaki sauce, when they brought my bowl back over to the table, it smelled great, the taste was not there at all, very very disaapointing. My mother got a terriaki sauce stir fry bowl & she said the same thing, no flavor. My sister in law got a curry sauce stir fry bowl, she said not a hint of spice & no flavor. My niece got Thai Chilly Sauce stir fry, she said the same thing, no spice & no flavor. My second trip, I got talking to a nice woman in line in front of me, she set me straight on the proteins, you can take all of them if you want, so I got noodles, vegetables, shrimp & scallops, garlic, hibachi sauce & terriaki sauce, definitely better, obviously you have to mess around & play with the various sauces to see what works for your taste. The server was slow taking away the spent plates, bowls, etc. I was drinking water, I asked her 3 seperate times for a refill & about ten times for a lemon wedge for my water, didn't get either, stopped at Sheetz up the road for a drink on the way home. The bill was not bad, for 5 of us with the gratuity it was $130 ( We didn't leave a tip ), all in all, it wasn't a horrible experience, but I won't make a special trip from Scranton to come here again. The concept is brilliant , the execution...
Read moreThis has become our absolute favorite restaurant. I have taken my adult children and their family here and I've taken my mother here. We just really love it! You are given a small bowl to fill as high as you want with as much food as you want. You start with starches such as noodles, move on to vegetables, and from there there are a lot of different meats. You can stack the bowl as high as you'd like. You are given a small piece of paper on which you put your name, table number, and what kind of rice you'd like. As a diabetic, I always cross them off and on the special request part put " no rice ". They then have bottles of spices that you can season your meat with. Then they have a section with a lot of sauces. You hand two little cups that are by the sauces to the people who do the cooking and tell them which two sauces you would like. I suggest teriyaki sauce and hibachi sauce. Then you hand them your tray and go back to your table. In a few minutes, you are given a large bowl full of your meal which is cooked separate from your rice and then placed on top of your rice. You can also have the rice cooked inside your meal. It is delicious! You can choose one bowl and eat that and be happy. If that bowl isn't enough, ask the waitress for another bowl. You'll be upgraded in price just a couple of dollars, but you'll be able to get as many bowls as you'd like! It's absolutely delicious, and the waiters and waitresses are just...
Read moreI recently visited Yummy Bowl in Wilkes-Barre with my sister, and while the food was undeniably delicious, our experience was marred by the bizarre and uncomfortable behavior of the staff.
As we waited to collect our orders, the lady wiping the counter suddenly stopped in front of us and began staring at us - and I mean really staring - like she was trying to bore a hole into our souls. My sister, standing on the other side of the counter, was subjected to the same unsettling gaze. It was as if time had frozen, and we were trapped in some sort of weird, unblinking standoff.
Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident. Throughout our visit, we noticed that all the workers seemed to be staring at us, making us feel like we were under some sort of surveillance. Even when I was leaving a tip, the girl behind the counter gave me attitude and looked visibly displeased, as if we hadn't left enough.
What's more, when we asked questions about how the restaurant worked, the staff seemed unable or unwilling to explain, instead opting to continue staring at us with an unnerving intensity.
It's a shame, really, because the food at Yummy Bowl is genuinely tasty. However, the strange and hostile behavior of the staff made our experience thoroughly unpleasant. Until they address this issue, I would advise others to think twice...
