The best coffee shop in town, and probably the best coffee shop in the state. The aesthetic of this place is great with a lovely raw brick wall, its rather industrial but in a comforting and inviting way. Plenty of seating available, love the natural shaped wooden tables, the bar area at the counter has a lovely countertop as well.
The coffee itself is AMAZING. I'm a serious coffee enthusiast, and have not found a better roaster in the state of Pennsylvania. Their signature blend, Sabra, is phenomenal, although I don't typically buy blends. I heavily prefer coffees from Africa, I find their flavor notes to be unique and the texture generally lighter for an enjoyable morning cup. I've had multiple Ethiopian coffees and Alabasters beats all of them. They also have a Rwanda roast which is more expensive (as Rwanda coffee typically is), but worth it, as the flavor notes are unique and delicious, the best African coffee ive ever had, bar none. I'm not huge on espresso drinks so I can't comment too much on their espresso, but I have many friends I've brought here who exclaim how good their espresso is (compared to their usual Starbucks drink, to be fair).
They have a wide selection of pastries that they change pretty much daily. I usually try and get a different pastry each time I come here to try them all and they're all amazing. Glazed donuts are a good baseline to determine how a shop handles pastries, and they have an amazing glazed donut so it's safe to assume the rest of their pastries are delicious, which has been my experience.
Baristas are friendly and good at what they do. Provide excellent service with a smile even if a customer is being difficult or rude. I can't name any one specifically, they all do such a great job.
The only downside for me is their hours. I leave town weekdays before 7 and usually won't be back into town until 430, sometimes 5. Saturday they're only open 7 hours and Sunday closed entirely. Even for a coffee shop these hours are a bit scarce, but this place is so great that I can forgive the shorter hours (plus that's not always something they can be in control of)
TLDR Long rant aside, this is the best coffee place you will find anywhere near here. The quality, atmosphere and service are all exceptional and I'm thankful to have Alabaster in our...
Read moreI was in Williamsport for a meeting and I used Yelp to find me a coffee shop. I read the reviews and had to try this place out. I always try to go local if possible over Starbucks. It this time it paid off. I was very impressed by both the coffee and atmosphere here.
The place If you like the ambiance of a coffee shop you will love this place. The walls are vintage brick and a great bar to walk up and sit at. They have have ample room so you shouldn't have too much problem getting a table most anytime. One note on parking, make sure you bring change to feed the parking meters, parking was sparse when I went.
The coffee I had an Caramel latte and it was excellent. One thing I look for in a latte is can is balance of the flavor of the Espresso and the syrup. I could taste the great flavor of the coffee without the Caramel over powering it. I saw you can order their beans online which I am excited to give them a try. They also had pastries available that looked good but I didn't have any so I can't comment on them. So if you are in the area this place is worth the stop. Even if you are just driving through the area it is only a few minutes off...
Read moreMy wife and I was walking around Williamsport and felt an urge to get some coffee. So this place just happened to be right beside us. Beautiful decor, but it is a tab bit large for a coffee shop. So they definitely have room to make it a bit more cozy.
Coffee was priced well and competitively lower than the main stream shops like Starbucks. The lady taking orders seemed a little out of it. She didn't seem to have a good sense of humor either.
We bought one of their bags of coffee from Papua NG and wanted the beans grounded up so we didn't need to do it at the house. She asked how I wanted them to be ground up and I said with a mortal and pestle.... I at least thought it was funny.. the look on her face didn't though.
Anyway the casual looking gentleman working the machines was a bit more of an extravert. He made our coffees and we were totally blown away by how great they tasted. They tasted as if they were well crafted and the subtle notes that were supposed to be tasted were in fact tasted.
They have gained a repeat customer, the coffee beans I brought home to brew tasted delicious and I can't wait to try a...
