This used to be a favorite stop for me. On a recent visit, I had the short-haired female server and due to her behavior, I will never return to this establishment. When I arrived at around 7:45 am, I had to wait to be offered coffee because my server was busy chatting with the other server. I waited and watched my server, as she continuously followed 2nd server around to chat. The 2nd server was busily attending to her customers but not my gal. Okay, finally she got around to making contact with me, giving me her phony sweetness. I got an okay meal, not the same cook as my last visit and not as good an omelette as my previous visit. Okay, I can deal with that. But when I received the check, there were different amounts on the bill. Cash total was $17.60. Just below that line on the bill, another Total indicated $18.22....the bill did not specify whether the higher amount was for use with credit card. The line amount was labeled "Total". Confusing, so I whipped out a $20 bill to pay with cash. Short-haired server (at the counter) returned my change and although the math would warrant her to give me $2.40, I only received $2 back. Confused, I asked her why I didn't receive my forty cents, which was going to be given back to her as a tip. I would have looked cheap giving only $2 tip, I'm sure I would have been talked about after leaving if I had been so cheap. So I asked where the rest of my money was. I was given some 'baloney' about how they are rounding up or down on the bill. HUH? Was this explained to me upon my arrival? NO. A resident later told me that some restaurants on the Cape are trying to eliminate the use of change and want to handle cash money in bill form only. HUH? If that's the case, this should be explained clearly to the consumer. Server had a smirk as she tried to explain their concept, then she grudgingly returned my forty cents (so I could give it back to her for tip). Bottom Line: Here I have found another restaurant treating the customer as a liability instead of an asset. Do you supposed my server spoke well of me after I left? Unbelievable! Bad attitude, service and fraudulent practices from one representative of this business. Customers beware! I've been recommending this place verbally for years. Now I'm giving everyone a written heads up about the crummy vibe you might experience...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews, the whole family was excited as ever to visit this spot for breakfast. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the most basic of expectations. Understanding that there was going to be a wait, we arrived and registered our party of four with the hostess. We were told it would be about 30-40 minutes. Cool, no problem we were prepared for this. While sitting on the benches, watching people and making friends, I noticed that parties that arrived after us were being seated (including the people sitting on the bench with me!). I inquired with the hostess, who then said it would be about 30- 45 minutes (we had ALREADY been waiting for 50 minutes!)
After waiting over an hour, the hostess hands us off to a waiter who then just says "you're over there in the corner (as she points to an empty table) and then falls in BEHIND us as we navigate to the table. When it came time to order, our interaction went as such: Daughter 1: I would like the mediterranean omelet without olives. Waiter: No. Long 5 second pause Me: well, why is the answer no? Waiter: the mixture comes with olives. You can get this (describes and option) or this. Me to my daughter: which way you wanna go? Or do you want something completely.. Waiter: cuts me off mid-sentence well, she can think about while everyone else gos. What woukd you like? *finishing my sentnce to my daughter: or you can order somethung completely different. Me: i would like the seafood hash, but can they make it without onions? Waiter: No.
Me: well, is there a reason or are there no.. cuts me off again Waiter: the peppers and onions are together. All around the table we received the same answer on substitutions etc. We finally got our order in, two tables next to us were seated.
20 minutes later the other two tables are in the midst of finishing their meals and we havent even gotten ours!
Meals finally arrive, the waiter basically just tossed one plate to my oldest dauggter and slammed my youngest daughters plate on the table. They then just toss my wifes and my plate on the table then take off.
Worst vacation dining experience yet. Completely felt unwelcomed and like we were a burden at that establishment. Only reason we stayed for the entireity of the meal was to show my children that we don't let others...

We were on the cape for vacation, and hitting a couple of my bookmarks. Best piece of advice... If you had known about this sooner, you would have been back for another visit.
This place is super busy. They do not take reservations, or use the NoWait app. They will not seat you if everyone is not present. You will be counted. They had seating outside for those waiting to be called. It was raining, and it was covered. The hostess has menu knowledge, and can answer questions. Often, most waiting regulars can also. Sand art sculptures keep changing bi-weekly out front. A large covered deck with extending awnings protect the outdoor diners.
We took a seat at the counter to watch the show. This staff is seasoned professionals. The grill cooks made no wasted move that did not have a purpose. The servers were communicating and helping each other like a team. No lie, the only fluidity missing would have been tossing items back & forth amongst each other. But coffee and toast are rarely thrown.
*NOTE the chairs at the counter are thickly padded(see pic). All other house seats are not.
What the heck is a rasher? I googled it. Simply put, it's going to be like a fried ham slice.
Sitting at the counter affords you the opportunity to visualize the menu as it comes out of the kitchen window. We were so mesmerized by the beauty, that we did not register the size. It's not until your plate is set down in front of you, that you reflect on everyone walking out with a carryout box in their hand. We ordered a Nutty Irishman, and an eggs, meat, potato cakes meal. The descriptions are on the menu, but should include review snip-its. "HUGE" "DELICIOUS" "SAVORY"
There's so many smiles around the restaurant. Happy diners with superior food. Of course we could not finish our meals. A great price for the seasonal Cape tourist. I found the restaurant clean and well adorned with tasteful decor. A display of many police/fire/rescue patches from around the world. Of course they also give a military discount. They also verbally expressed their gratitude for my service. The restroom was a bit odd. Perhaps there is a handicap restroom somewhere else, but the one I was in, seemed close to porta potty size. Clean but small.
Next visit to the Cape will include an early and later visit...
