We had a lovely time staying at the Holly Tree Resort for a long weekend. We selected the resort as it was six miles from Hyannis, where we were attending a wedding, and the resort seemed like a good value. It was very close to all the action there, many attractions in both Hyannis and Yarmouth along Route 28(with large holly trees along the front), and we really enjoyed the room. The indoor pool looked delightful and wished we had time to swim. We did enjoy playing tennis at outdoor courts about a mile away. Room was an immaculate suite with a separate living area / bedroom that had recent updates, sea glass prints, bath fixtures, and linens so comfortable we looked up what the brand was to try to recreate this at home(Berkshire Hospitality). While we did not use it the room had a large, new hot tub. It has dispensers of dish soap, shampoo and shower soap which many hotels have now. It had a large refrigerator, microwave, Mr. Coffee coffeemaker and filters. It even had a iron and ironing board which was a pleasant surprise and much needed as we were going to two formal-dress events. It isn't a full kitchen, but there are plenty of coffee/breakfast places across the street/nearby and of course the Cape is all about spending time outdoors. Desk staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and available to answer questions over the phone. For folks reviewing independent businesses like this, please bear in mind they have a very small staff. My only one quibble is with the 10 am check out time, but again, there is a very small onsite staff that was constantly working on the rooms and this was before the high season. We plan to...
Read moreThis was one of the worst exchanges we've experienced. The rooms were minuscule, about 1/2 the size of a normal hotel room. I estimate the space of the studio was about 170 square feet. The bed was a double and not terribly accommodating for two seniors. We didn't get one good nights sleep. The bathroom had cracked tiles and the bathroom door was peeling on the bottom. The towels were the size you normally would receive in a cheap hotel and were so scratchy that by drying yourself you also got wonderful exfoliation. There was a luggage rack in the small closet, but there was literally no place to put it without compromising your ability to get around the room. The indoor pool had a hot tub, but the noise it made was so loud that if you shared the tub with a friend, you couldn't exchange any conversation without shouting. Towels were not immediately available at the pool. You had to ask the desk clerk if you wanted a small towel, barely larger than a hand towel. The "partial" kitchen consisted of a cheap toaster, microwave, refrigerator that ran so cold it froze all our food. The second day we were there, our TV stopped working. The person on duty was unable to get it working and told us he would have maintenance look at it in the morning. We said it was unacceptable for us to have no TV for a night and suggested he replace our TV with another working TV from another room. He did replace the TV. Don't stay at this place.r . We have a beautiful studio in the Dominican Republic. This place is a "dump"...
Read moreFirst off, this IS NOT a resort, don’t be fooled. |Resorts have cleaning services and staff you can actually see. We were here for three days and saw front desk staff twice. The front lobby was always empty, |You have to make your own beds and clean your own room? I know the pandemic suspended a lot of cleaning services, but this is five years later, folks. Get with the program! We were told we’d have to bring our bedclothes down to the lobby and exchange them for clean ones and make the bed ourselves! For real! |No elevator, either, yes, it’s only two stories, but when you have multiple large, heavy bags to lug it’s not very convenient, AT ALL. |There’s no restaurant on site. The only thing you can get complimentary is luke-warm weak coffee with that powdered fake creamer. |The bathrooms are very small.|Also, the door jams aren’t sealed, and light from the hallway seeps into the room through that door jamb crack, which is annoying when you’re trying to sleep. |We had a deluxe room with a separate living/kitchenette area, and the door latch and lock on the bedroom door were broken, so we had to sleep with the door slightly ajar. And the room had a faint musty smell. |Holly Tree is convenient to multiple Cape attractions and beaches, and the pool area is clean. That’s the only reason itwas given two stars...
