I'm trying to understand why this place has 4.9 star reviews because my experience there has been horrible. The only reason I hiked a mile up hill is because of reviews I read on Google. The reviews must be fake because the eating experience here was worst I have ever had. They have QR code for menu which you can order directly on your phone which is great idea but only in concept. In practice, it doesn't work. My wife ordered her meals on her phone and she did get her order but my order never came. My wife ordered morning glory with an omelet. Morning glory wasn't good and it had black oil which was obvious sign that they didn't clean pan for our order. The omelet wasn't an omelet but more like scrambled and also had black charred pieces from previous meal cooked on it. They served two bowls of rice, where one bowl was under cooked and the other was cooked with too much water where it was mushy. While waiting for my order which never came (which i was actually happy about) you can hear the cook/chef coughing up his lung the whole time and spitting up phylem. Mind you, he wasn't wearing mask and I was worried the whole time about the food I ordered because I had completely lost my appetite at that point. Best thing about the experience was leaving.
This is in response to owner's reply below. I added a video to show that there were no confusion about the cook being sick. I mentioned my worry about the cook coughing up his lungs to one of the girls. And unfortunately, im now sick with high fever. I wished they would be more truthful in their response. And their response is just to cover up bad review and not take it seriously to improve. There are many places that are better and not full of excuses. I highly recommend reading other one star reviews and you will see consistency and not "one off" experience. Go somewhere else, not...
Read moreI ate there with my family some weeks ago during my stay in SaPa and I was so glad we chose the place :) We went on a rainy day out of the touristy season so they lacked ingredients for some of the dishes we initially wanted to order, but they were honest and told us beforehand and offered us alternatives. It took them a bit of time to prepare our food because that day there was only one girl working at the restaurant, yet she was doing her best running from one place to another and in the end the wait was nothing crazy: and the food was even better than we expected! It showed that the ingredients were all fresh, and the dishes we ordered were really tasty despite being simple (the mushroom banh mi was to die for), the presentation was cared for and the prices felt cheap compared to other places in the city - the home cat was just so fluffy and sweet too :) I would come back without a doubt, and I recommend you give it a...
Read moreIt’s difficult to assess this place. You can’t really evaluate it using the same criteria as you would for a regular restaurant. It’s more like a home kitchen built in an outbuilding. Considering that, the food was good, the wooden structure was pretty inside, and the staff seemed to be having fun. In that sense, a full five stars!
But if you judged it as a normal restaurant, it would only get one star. The waiting time for food was one hour, even though there were only six customers ahead, and two of them had already received their meals. The building is cold (early November), so you end up eating with your outdoor clothes on. The food was typical Vietnamese cooking — good in itself, but nothing special if that’s what you’re looking for in a restaurant.
So 5 stars for home kitchen and 1 star for restaurant. And that’s why I...
