Gontran Cherrier — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

Beautiful settings but the greetings (lack of… because the staff was having a chat instead of paying attention to customers coming in) and service were terrible.

With all the reviews and a known chef from France, we were expecting much more than what we got from visiting this location!

We ordered 2 croissants, a flat white and a “café viennois”, a fresh orange juice and a mineral water. Since we could not get the croque monsieur and the ham & cheese croissant without the bechamel (the waitress did not even bother to ask the kitchen if possible), we kept it simple by ordering 2 croissants. To our complete surprise, they did not taste anything near the ones you could find in Paris! They were totally bland… The café viennois was also tasteless and poorly presented, and to make things worse, our server managed to forget the orange juice and the water from what is considered as a simple order.

I just could not get out of there fast enough as the staff seems jaded with no smile. Not worth the detour and...

✨Gontran Cherrier es un restaurante francés 😏 ubicado en pleno Palermo soho justo en Malabia 1805. Acompáñame en este pequeño tour que te contaré con cada una de mis fotografías.

👆🏻Cuentan con una hermosa vereda llena de sillas y mesas las cuales hacen una composición mágica con el local. Cuando entras al restaurante con lo primero que te enamoran es con la sinfonía de olores que poco a poco vas descubriendo y amandolos. No se ustedes pero a mi el olor a pan y croissant recién saliendo del horno es una pasión sostenida en mi mente durante años 😍 pero no solo te enamoran con sus olores sino que también encontrarás una vitrina llena de diferentes postres increíbles de la pastelería francesa que no sabrás cuál elegir.

😁 Te invito a conocer su terraza pero en el camino encontrarás una galería de arte sorprendente. Hasta que por fin llegas a la terraza 😯 Te sorprenderás con la vista que tienes allí y también podrás disfrutar de una decoración muy acogedora y encantadora. La atención del personal es estupenda, cada detalle cuenta y para mí vale todo a la hora de conocer lugares mágicos como este restaurante.

🥖 TARTINE GRAVLAX 🐟 Delicioso baguetín clásico relleno con salmón gravlax marinado con cítricos, acompañado con palta, queso crema, ciboulette y ralladura de lima.⁣

🥪 CROQUER MONSIEUR 🧀 Pan de molde relleno con jamón cocido, bechamel y queso gratinado 🤤

✨ Tenía días queriendo conocerlo y puedo confesarles que quede aún más enamorada de él al visitarlo. Es un restaurante realmente encantador, con un menú muy completo, tendrás que tomar la difícil decisión de elegir un plato para comer. Aunque si decides ir acompañado; así podrán ordenar dos platos diferentes y probar cada una de sus delicias.

No podía faltar obviamente el postre, decidí probar 😲 El Domo de Chocolate 🍫 El Tartelette Citrón 🤤 Un Cuadrado de hojandre y creme bruleé más un París Brest 🤯 Cada uno tiene su encanto y podrás llevarte por una montaña rusa de sabores y texturas ASOMBROSAS 🤤

Stopped by at Gontran Cherrier in Palermo for a quick pre dinner bite and coffee (merienda) and it did not disappoint. Service was good, but rather slow - we had to get up to find someone to take our order. No biggie though. We ordered a couple pistachio cappuccinos and a couple pastries to tie us over before late dinner. The maracuyá tart (passion fruit tart) was phenomenal. The right balance of sweet and tart flavors. The pear and white chocolate bar was good too. Sizes were perfect for sharing without getting super full. The temperature of the coffee was slightly colder than I’d like, but this tends to be the case in Buenos Aires, even for top notch places like this.
