The women working there are quite rude and dismissive. We came in as 4 around 3:00pm and went to order. As I began to order, instead of listening to my order, the young girl immediately walked off after I ordered the kids meals when I was still mid sentence.
She put the kids meals down in front of me and straight away told me the total even though I still hadn't ordered the rest. When I tried to order more food, she said that they were out of the product but then corrected and said that the kitchen was closed.
I was thinking of what to do when another female staff member came over and interjected and pointed at the cabinet and said 'thats all we have available. The kitchen is closed'. When I said that I hadn't known that when I walked up, both girls looked at each other and smiled like they were going to laugh. If the girl had just waited at the start of the order instead of rushing to get the first thing I had said, and told me the kitchen was closed, we could have gone elsewhere as there were others who were hungry.
The real disappointment came when other people lined up, and the staff went around telling them what was available before they had to order- and then turned off the tv menus. It felt disrespectful on my behalf to refuse to take the kids meals as they had been boxed already and given to me.
I've been coming to the museum cafe for nearly 20 years since I was little and I don't think we'll ever be back now as the standards have fallen...
Read moreThe Case of the Gourmet Priced Pastry at Muse Cafe Southbank.
Oh, Muse Cafe Southbank, you charming little establishment. Your ambiance is as inviting as a hug from a koala, but let's have a chinwag about your pricing, shall we? I ventured in, my wallet full, my belly empty, and my hopes high. I felt like a bit of a sausage roll splurge, thinking, "How much could it possibly be?" Imagine my gasp when the counter flashed an $8.50 price tag! I nearly dropped my sunnies! But wait, that's not the pièce de résistance. The meat pie, that culinary icon of the Aussie snack world, sits under a sign boasting a lordly sum of $9.50. I half-expected it to be served with a side of gold flakes or at least a personal serenade from a kangaroo playing the didgeridoo. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a flaky crust and a hearty filling, but for those prices, I thought the pie might also do my taxes and the sausage roll might give me a foot massage. Alas, they did neither. So, while your pies and rolls might warm the cockles of one's heart, the prices, dear Muse, threaten to freeze the contents of one's wallet. I say this all with love and a cheeky grin, hoping that maybe, just maybe, the next time I stroll in, the prices will have taken a gentle tumble down to earth from the stratosphere where they currently reside. Until then, keep the pies warm and the charm turned up, as that's what I'll be needing after seeing my...
Read moreWe were having lunch and our toddler dropped his cup of water. It spilled across the whole table and all over his meal. There were 3 staff members out on the floor, and we were at a table in direct line of sight to the counters, and not one staff member offered to help, even though we clearly needed it. My husband went and got a wad of paper napkins, and when we realised it wasn't going to be good enough he asked one of the staff for a cloth, explaining what had happened. They were happy for him to take the cloth, but did not offer any help at all. As we were trying to clean up and get as much of his dry food as possible onto another plate, all three staff members on the floor had a good look at what we were doing, and when I tried to catch one of their eyes she purposefully looked away. Not a single one offered any help. My husband ended up having to carry the sopping paper napkins and food across the cafe to the bin, and then had to leave the sopping cloth on top of the bins, where it sat until we left. Not once was help offered, even though all three staff walked directly past our table multiple times. And not once were we offered fresh food for our toddler, who then had to eat wet food. Will not be...
