Donnie's Brisbane — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Always chasing a new pizza place and I saw unreal reviews for this place. Managed to walk straight in after finding a park on the nightmarish Vernon Terrace and ordering real quick. Staff were helpful with some questions I had about the menu too. I got the Chilli Marg and it was delicious, no complaints at all! Also debated with myself and friend for a while if I should spend $12 on chips and I thought, stuff it.. it’ll do it for the love of the game. They were yummy, the seasoning and crisp and dip was great but most of them were stuck together as big chunks which I’d never experienced before? But also.. $12.. bruh The pepperoni pizza was delicious, fast, big and hot, the least you’d expect for a $28 pizza but the crust was nice but a little too chewy, too thick in parts to where it was a little bit of a jaw workout. I actually decided to take half the pizza home so I could let it sit for a while, hoping the crust would soften a little (it did). Overall, yummy, way too expensive though. First time trying New York–style pizza, and I was pleasantly surprised at how strong and sturdy such a thin base could be. We ordered mozzarella sticks, fries, a margarita pizza, and a pepperoni pizza.

The mozzarella sticks aren’t usually my thing, but I wasn’t disappointed—my wife really enjoyed them. The fries were advertised as shoestring but came out crinkle cut, which I personally wouldn’t have ordered had I known. The pepperoni was a standout—cupped and crisped just as promised, and full of flavour. The margarita wasn’t bad, but it left a little something to be desired.

The food came out quickly, and the staff were friendly and helpful, which added to the experience. My only other gripe was the booth seating—unfortunately, it was terribly uncomfortable.

We came to check out Donnie’s after hearing about it opening recently through social media - we didn’t have a booking but the staff were incredibly accommodating and helped us get a seat inside. The drinks were fantastic and the overall vibe of the place was awesome - you could tell a lot of love and effort had gone into the restaurant before the food had even come out. Speaking of which, our pizzas were incredible, genuinely some of the best we have had in Brisbane (arguably THE best) and the entire experience was just so enjoyable - we really hope more people are able to visit this place and see just how wonderful the food, staff and atmosphere is, we know we’ll certainly...
