I had really high hopes for this restaurant when we dined there on the 27/11/21. Unfortunately, after terrible service experience one after another, our evening ended with the manager swearing at us and telling us he did not want our group at the restaurant. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone. The decor was lovely and probably one of the very few things the restaurant is doing right. From the beginning of the evening, I (and the rest of my table) were made to feel extremely judged and unwelcome. Mark, our server, was dismissive, rude and ignored us for majority of the evening. In the end, we had to flag down another waiter to place our orders.
When we did finally place our orders, Mark was visibly irritated that we were not spending enough money and only got progressively ruder as a result. When the food arrived at our table, he threw the food onto the table carelessly in front of guests. Wine was poured carelessly dripping on the table, and our entrée plates were not cleared until we finished dining. This is extremely horrendous behaviour for a so-called fine dining restaurant Eterna Dining claims to be.
When a guest in my group found a piece of plastic in their food, we notified our server immediately. He appeared to take the plastic away and throw it away without notifying the chefs. He did not come back to apologise further or offer any kind of compensation for this issue. Mistakes happen, but it is standard practice to offer a discount or replacement meal. My friend did not continue eating their meal. The food was good, but the serving sizes varied dramatically, and some guests were still hungry despite paying over $35 for their meal. At Eterna, vegetarian options mean the meat was simply removed without replacement of additional components.
Although we were not offered a dessert menu after our meals, we were so appalled by the behaviour of Mark we did not want to spend any more money here than we already had. Upon receiving the bill, we asked another waiter if there was the possibility to split the bill. She informed us that it was indeed possible. However, when we did go up to split the bill unfortunately Mark was the one handling our bill. When a guest asked about splitting the bill, he said and I quote directly “for f*s sake just pay the bill, I don’t even want you here.”
I've noticed already some of the other negative reviews may have been flagged or removed already and I hope this one is actually addressed by the owner as I am absolutely appalled by the behaviour of the waitstaff and the whole restaurant operations. Neither myself nor my group have never been treated so disrespectfully. For a fine dining restaurant, the service was absolutely vile. If you’re thinking of dining at Eterna do yourself a favour and stay...
Read moreWe dined here for my partners birthday 27/11/21. We had booked weeks in advance and were so excited to dine in - unfortunately it was not the experience we had hoped for. We were asked to wait while the people in front of us were seated, not a problem. However when a waitress noticed we were still stood there minutes later she came over to welcome us and escort us to our table only to have the Maitre D' reappear take the menu's off her and rebuke her efforts in front of us, we were less than impressed. How your treat your staff speaks volumes and it set the tone for how we were to be treated. Our experience was really just a series of unfortunate events - we pre-ordered and paid for cocktails when we booked but had to mention this twice before receiving them. When asked if we were ready to order we said we hadn't got that far as we had been discussing the desserts (which sounded lush and it was a birthday remember) to which the Maitre D' responded dismissively 'You don't look at that first, you haven't ordered yet' before walking off. Service levels continued to be poor: our water wasn't refilled unless requested, the wine we ordered was placed in the centre of our table with the lid still on - so we served ourselves. While the entrees were nice, the porchetta came out looking like it had been plated well before serving, we didn't order any sides because we didn't think we would need them (you do) so some of us were still hungry after mains, our mains were almost cleared halfway through by an over eager staff member, we were never offered dessert and in the end we were so fed up with the service that when we were asked if we wanted more drinks (the only thing we were offered in abundance) we asked for the bill instead and went and got more wine and dessert elsewhere. In all fairness, the restaurant was full but not one of the tables was turned over in the time we were there - so full, but not busy. Our waiter was friendly but not overly observant, the waitress who served us initially is a credit to the venue as she didn't stop moving all night and we wish we had been seated in her section. Overall not the birthday celebration we wanted and despite the glowing social media reviews we would not recommend and will not...
Read moreThe truth is that I do not know where to start... This was one of the worst experiences of my life in a restaurant. We went with a group of friends to have dinner at this restaurant because it looked good, and the truth is that it is really very nice place. The welcome from the manager was quite cold, so from there it started badly. Then they took a long time to offer us water or something to drink and when we wanted to contact the waiter, he ignored us and after two calls he dis a gesture with his hand for us to wait (without even telling us to wait a moment or something). When the manager took our order, he was unpleasant and rude, showing his rush and carelessness. As for the food, for the price it was quite average, at least my plate and my partner's (Risotto and Eggplant). It was ok, but nothing incredible, hoping that for the place and the price the food would stand out, but no. In addition to this, the manager at the time served the plate to someone at my table, tossed it carelessly and even violently without saying sorry. After this no one offered us desserts or something else to drink. To end the night we asked the manager if we could split the bill but he couldn't control his impulses, and raises his voice and begins to say insults indicating that we have to pay everything together and leave. Based on all of the above, I can only give this place 1 star from which I had many more expectations. It seems to me that such a person cannot attend the public. I also work in hospitality and I understand that sometimes a person's mood can vary, so I know what I'm talking about, but nothing justifies their actions...
