I have never felt the need to leave a restaurant review but I am still so shocked at how awful the service was tonight.

Have previously had a great experience at Les Bubbles and was so excited to return tonight with visitors from Melbourne. Unfortunately the evening was below average - to the point it felt like a joke.

To start off the night we were told about a steak special which offered a nicer cut of meat but also a free dessert or cocktail for the higher price. Everyone at the table was sold, but when it came to ordering (5-10 mins after being told of the special) we were told they only had 2 left (for a table of 4).

About 40 mins after ordering we were then told by a third waiter they had none of the premium cut left but they would just charge us the normal amount for all meals and still provide the free desserts/cocktails. We questioned this as the waitress who took our order specifically checked prior to offering us the final 2. The third waiter then confirmed we would have 2 cuts by giving us an enthusiastic thumbs up from the kitchen.

20 minutes later (an hour after ordering) we questioned where our entrees were - and received no update or apology for how long it had been. We then received what appeared to be a rushed entree; the baked Camembert was not melted and held its shape when cut, where on our previous visits it was wonderfully gooey.

An hour later (2 hours from ordering) we received an email from the booking portal asking how the night was. At this point we hadn’t even received our mains.

We were eventually served our sides (lettuce and bread) and started to eat it as it was around 9pm at this point. We finished those with no sign of mains. We also had not been offered any additional opportunity to order another round of drinks and had only once in close to two and a half hours had our water topped up.

It wasn’t until my partner asked for some of the bottomless fries and to order more drinks while we waited for our mains that they finally brought the mains out - again no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. None of the steaks were the premium cut despite the confirmation of 2 left. My steak was ordered rare, and came out cooked more than the two medium-rare orders, while my partner’s medium order came out closer to well done. They were also missing 2 of the sauces we ordered, which we had to ask for.

We were then brought an incorrect dessert and had to wait for them to correct the order. Once the meal was over, the waiter who brought the wrong dessert (also the one who enthusiastically confirmed the 2 steaks) felt the need to tell us it was a good mistake the kitchen made with the dessert as he got to eat it. Meanwhile, he never offered us the free dessert and at this point it was nearly 10pm (our booking was for 6:45pm).

We finally got to paying our bill and the waitress was somehow shocked when I told her the night was quite average. She then asked if we wanted her to do anything about the bill - which I have never experienced as most restaurants are so apologetic they effectively demand they be allowed to provide compensation when provided with this sort of feedback.

Our friends had to rush as they had already rescheduled their lift twice given the delays throughout the evening, but later realised they charged us for one of the desserts and a cocktail, despite saying they would all be free given the missing premium cuts of meat and the offer they couldn’t deliver on. They didn’t even offer to comp the soft drinks we ordered, which at over $40 is a joke in itself.

As mentioned, we have previously had a great experience there but tonight it was an absolute disappointment and likely will result in us not returning.

The irony of the chef wearing an apron saying “you got served” was...

Obviously, something is going terribly wrong at Les Bubbles of late. I wish I'd read recent reviews before booking a birthday dinner. The whole experience was utterly bizarre. I had high hopes for a steak restaurant with only one main dish claiming they do it well. Service was nothing short of odd, firstly several people trying to do the same thing at once (seat us, take orders immediately, get water) then barely saw another member of staff the whole meal. The one we did see had a really squelchy/snotty "sniff" each time he passed the table. Entrees were kind of worth the long wait - maybe we were just hungry... but the big pile of pickles and vinegar really took away from the delicate carpaccio. The steak was cooked okay but not seasoned at all (sorry, but inexcusable!), sauces were curdled and gloopy. The waiter couldnt even tell we hadn't ordered the same sauce and just let us figure it out - somehow the bearnaise had a coconut after-taste and the peppercorns were soft, in a week-old way not a good way. Fries were decidedly overcooked, borderline burnt - we'd watched the "chef" get distracted with a long conversation then remember them... I guess that's one way to make sure no one asks for more though! After waiting an hour for our main, last drinks were called shortly afterwards at 8:15... Not exactly a welcoming atmosphere. So we quickly finished the meal and left. As others have said, if your business, marketing and reputation lives or dies by your one speciality dish, you'd better do it well... And sort out whatever staff chaos is going on. They seem to all mean well but have no clue what is going on! It's probably best they pushed all the customers out the door early. It's a shame because the whole concept sounded...

I wanted to LOVE this place so much. We arrived at 7pm for our booking. We ordered our food and drinks around 7:15. Entree arrived 7:30ish (Camembert was polarising) the flavour profile was too much for just Camembert and bread however I like the concept. Drinks arrived 7:45 (we ordered one cocktail and a Coke Zero). Mains arrived 7:55 (ordered 2 steak frites) I had to go stand in line at the cashier to request more frites (where listed as bottomless on the menu) At the same time I asked to order dessert The girl came back about 10 minutes later with the frites and I ordered crème brûlée for desert. Please tell me why my husband has to sit and wait to not finish his stake to have it with more fries. By this time the place only had about 3 other tables of customers and plenty of staff. A girl then came around again and asked if we wanted desert. I told her we had already ordered with someone else 5 minutes prior We waited about 25 more minutes and saw the chefs cleaning the kitchen. We had had enough and knew our desert was not going to come. I went to pay and mentioned we’d been waiting for our desert but it never came Overall the whole idea of the place is great The wait staff are extremely dis interested in serving or clearing tables. If you are offering extra frites, don’t wait to ask when people are finished the whole meal. Not sure if the wait staff are lacking leadership but the fact the wait times for service the entire night was horrendous this left such a bad taste in my mouth. Please do better guys, I’m embarrassed for you. Not worth the 40 minute drive each way Only positive of the night were the frites and how...

Les Bubbles, what can you say. I bet it wishes it was still an illegal bath house because it should be jailed for masquerading as a steak restaurant. The place was nearly empty at 7pm and if it wasn't for the table of 6 and 2 other tables seated near us it would have had the atmosphere of a tomb. After 30 minutes of trying to get a drink and a starter we finally ordered bone marrow, carpaccio, steak frites and a cocktail each. The bone marrow arrived and the bones had been left under the salamander, hence we got no marrow, just hot bones that looked like they had been chewed on by the butchers dog and a dollop of non descript brown gloop in a jug. The bread was par baked and had the texture of recycled MDF. It was served with tiny catering packets of butter. The carpaccio was so bland it tasted of sad. The salad was so wilted and limp it needed Viagra to give it a lift. The main course of Steak frites arrived and finally something was right. All 3 steaks were cooked as ordered. The frites however were dry, oily and served with no joy and were thoroughly unpleasant. We had to ask for our drinks and they arrived with the main course. Cocktails and steak are experience I ever wish to repeat. And then we were given the wrong bottle of wine, a real Basil Fawlty experience without the humour. Some of these dishes would have gotten a third world airline grounded I kid you not! The only highlight was the Manager, obviously trying his best to keep afloat what is seemingly a sinking ship. His talents are wasted at Les Bubbles. At $375 for 3 people we definitely won't be returning.
