So disappointing- have been ordering their laksa for over 7 years and it was the best in Brisbane……. Ordered a Prawn and a Chicken Laksa and Spring Rolls tonight and it is awful. There were NO vegetables, usually has carrot, broccoli and Asian greens and tonight it was a handful of bean sprouts, sliced salad onion and a stalk of Thai basil…… it is usually a beautiful and rich creamy soup and it was watery and flat. The spring rolls were so burnt they were dried out inside. I rang the restaurant and they said that they don’t do vegetables because of the increased costs of produce now……. If I wanted veggies in the laksa choose the ‘Extra Vegies’ option on Uber eats for $4 and you will get some……. Not ok Vietnam House, make that clear when ordering not when I have paid $60 to have 2 laksa and 3 spring rolls delivered and basically all I got was watery soup, some noodles and bean sprouts. They have lost a long term loyal customer, I used to rave about this place and refer all my Victoria friends who were looking for a Laksa King style meal here, not anymore. Given this is my experience with laksa, I’m assuming the quality of their other meals are also suffering for the same reasons. Vietnam House Owners- If you are cutting corners like this to save money you need to rethink your strategy- loyal customers would pay more for your quality product. Back yourself and your business- put your prices up to cover the increase costs and maintain quality. 2 stars- because the food is edible, it will turn up, staff are polite. Just the quality and value for money...
Read moreWhat a bad way to end an evening meal!! Such poor service, at what could be a good restaurant.
Its a real shame that the boss wouldnt honour the discount voucher due to the booking system their website sent us to (due to them not answering the phone..), apparently meaning any discounts are invalid even though there is no written evidence of this ANYWHERE.
They explained that this is due to them having to pay for the booking service, which would be fine if a) we were made aware this was a rule and b) they hadnt forced us to book this way
The craziest part is, upon arrival we were told our booking hadnt worked and they would give us a table they had free! It was apparently found as soon as we said we had the voucher though... what the??!
If like us you like to try new restaurants using The Entertainment Book think twice about bothering to go here. They couldnt show us anywhere that stated the rule that they eluded to, it seems they can just decide as they go along.
Its a real shame as the food was good and the chefs are very let down by the front of house.
In summary, the service was disgusting and they do not value repeat buiness. Our table of 6 wont be back.. if they cant afford to give us this token discount parhaps they should consider that valueing customers and gaining repeat business would likely ensure more cash through the register (Crazy thought, I know!!!)
I wouldn't normally write a post like this, but decided to when they made it clear that they were not willing to listen...
Read moreAn makes a killer mojito and puts on a good show making it. Depending on how much alcohol you've had before arriving, the mojito can taste like lemonade but trust me, there is alcohol in it. If you are new to this place and are confused by the full colour menu, try the vegetarian spring rolls as a starter. They are crispy, hot and tasty and you wouldn't know there is no meat. The crispy grilled chicken main makes a fine starter when shared between two. Satay sauce with moist grilled chicken goes superb with the sweet vietnemese salad dressing. If An is chatty, comment on his physique and ask him to flex his biceps, is sure to bring a smile. The Sizzling dishes are iconic for a main with tender thin slices of beef matched nicely to a special fried rice. The chilli in this dish is perfectly adequate for the sweetness. The service is excellent despite the constant door traffic of uber eats pickups. Save room for dessert being the choice of black sticky rice or deep fried ice cream. The black sticky rice is an-believable and finishes the garlic onion vibe with flavours of not so sweet warm coconut black rice and a selection of oriental fruits from downtown Hanoi. Magjc company is of course the essential ingredient in a superb night. Set the stage and An and the team will take care...
