An Enchanting Evening at Lyrebird Restaurant, Southbank Brisbane. Pre-show dinner at QPAC
My evening began with a glass of Pewsey Vale 2022 Riesling from Eden Valley, SA. This refreshing and aromatic wine offered the perfect prelude to the culinary journey that lay ahead.
The first course was a delectable focaccia, generously drizzled with Italian olive oil. The bread boasted a light texture, a delicate flaky crust, and was beautifully punctuated with herbs and baked garlic pieces. The result was nothing short of perfection, each bite melting in the mouth, leaving a trail of rich flavours.
Accompanying the focaccia was a truffled mushroom dip. This wasn't just any dip - it had a lovely silky texture, with an excellent balance of flavours. The truffle and mushroom were harmonious, neither overpowering the other, creating a subtle, earthy delight for the taste buds.
The main course was a Black Angus Scotch fillet, served with grilled asparagus, watercress, lemon, and a red wine jus. Although the fillet was quite thin at approximately 7mm, it was tender and pleasingly flavoured, demonstrating the remarkable quality of the meat. The asparagus, grilled to perfection, added a charming char flavour that complemented the robust nature of the fillet beautifully.
My server for the evening, Ceri, was excellent. Her professionalism and attentive manner were exceptional, making the evening not just about the food but about the overall service experience. Her delightful demeanor and in-depth knowledge of the menu added a personal touch that truly elevates Lyrebird to a league of its own.
In conclusion, Lyrebird offers a dining experience that goes beyond the plate. a testament to the power of exceptional service. Whether you're a seasoned foodie or a casual diner, Lyrebird offers a...
Read moreThis is one of the most affordable high teas in Brisbane.. and I’ve done a lot of them!
First time dining in the Lyrebird and had the high tea which is offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays prior to the matinee shows. We weren’t attending a show on this day (Saturday service) but were still able to enjoy the high tea. Pre-booking for Saturday matinee service is essential (as for most high teas), and you won’t get in without a booking at this time as they have caps. High tea was $25 a head or $30 including a glass of sparkling wine which is a phenomenal price.
Maximum 6 people per table for high tea. Photo of menu included but consisted of scones with jam and cream on top tier, savouries on middle tier: finger sandwiches (chicken with truffled mayo, ham cheese and relish, egg and lettuce), arancini, and mini quiche, and sweets/petit fours - various sweet tarts (2 pp) and a macaron each on the bottom.
The high tea here is a little lighter on quantity than some high teas but understandable and decent given the very reasonable price. And it’s possible to eat/enjoy it all! Nitpicking, the only thing I didn’t like was the truffle in the chicken sandwich was a bit strong for my taste and I didn’t finish it. Our towers were to share between 3 people and we received 6 tarts on one but 5 on the other which is only minor but a shame for a restaurant of this calibre and such minimal food to be short one person’s tart.
Coffee orders took a little time but we were right before the matinee. Service was professional and spot on! All in all a lovely high tea...
Read moreWe arrived for dinner around 5pm with friends to enjoy dinner and a show . Unfortunately because we were happy and having a good time we were rudely faced by a guy called Rodney who has absolutely no people skills and was very very rude . We asked for drinks and were told by Rodney about the RSA rule . We hadn’t even ordered our first drink .After ordering two bottles of wine to share at a table of 10 we then asked for a glass of Chardonnay when Rodney appears again and lifts up our half bottle of bubbles while again talking about the RSA rule . We spent over $800 dollars in this restaurant and cannot fault the food as it was exceptional. Being made to feel like we were drunks even though most of us were on our first drink and some had none at all because they were driving was appalling and bad customer service . I really think Rodney needs to learn customer service and what is considered drunk before he repeats the RSA rule . Unfortunately we will not be returning again as the table of 10 are still upset by the treatment we endured before going to a show . We were a table of 10 in our 50s and 60s just having a nice dinner and show with a couple of wines . Rodney I hope you don’t upset another table with unnecessary...
