Granted, I’ve only been here once, I had a charming experience. Food was great, service was good, ambience was excellent.

Decor is most important to me and this place has it - sumptuous and comfortable, yet completely unpretentious. I love places that have given more than a penny’s thought to their interior comfort, especially the chairs. And they didn’t forget the toilets either, spacious individual cubes with vibrant tiling.

As a picky, peri-menopausal woman, who’s easily annoyed by things like a slight breeze of air con on my face, this place was gold. And it wasn’t too loud either, like so many places these days, despite being at about 3/4s capacity. The space was conducive to decent conversation. Unpretentious and elegant with a bit of wild art dotted about that, at first incongruous, totally works.

My beef pie was delicious (and I never order pie in classy places) albeit slightly strong for me. It was rich and tasty. I didn’t eat the whole thing, and have no qualms about asking for a doggy bag, and they supplied me with one in a friendly and efficient manner. The staff were there when you needed them, but didn’t hover. And they were friendly.

I didn’t want to fork out for the side of beans but gosh darn it they were good! Especially the garlic puree they lay on. I was going to order the pasta but was afraid it would be small. I was wrong. It looked ample and amazing, and my friend said it was delicious. I’m going back for it.

Another friend ordered the eggplant, which looked fantastic *see pic with greens on top. I plan to go back another time for that. I shared that dessert with someone; it wasn’t really for me, a bit dry, but it didn’t detract from everything else. There were no complaints about food or anything from anyone at my table of nine. Everyone seemed happy.

I look forward to visiting again.

OK, I WENT BACK! Mid October 2024. PARTY OF FIVE and still five stars. Got to try the pasta, absolutely delicious! I was poised to get a doggy bag but the pasta was smaller than appeared last time, fair enough, but I ate it all it was so tasty. Croquettes for entre, nice. Fish (can't recall what type) looked awesome, and friends say it was fantastic.

Thought there'd be more people upstairs at Felix bar on a Friday night but it was quieter. The Naldham balcony was buzzing. Still had good service, friendly and...

My recent invitation to a July 2025 Brunch at the Brasserie with the PA Network was my first visit to Naldam House, and what an impressive introduction it was! I was fortunate to receive a comprehensive tour of all three levels.

The ground floor houses the Pan-European Brasserie and an outdoor café, both boasting a vibrant, maximalist design. Key features include striking red draperies, an intricately restored marble fireplace, and a sleek marble bar.

Ascending to the first floor, you'll discover Club Felix, a sophisticated late-night cocktail bar and lounge. Its French-influenced menu highlights champagne and classic cocktails, all set amidst a backdrop of serene blue hues and modern art. A particular standout is the beautifully restored silky oak backbar, a relic from the building's 1914 renovation.

Finally, the top floor is home to The Fifty Six, a contemporary Cantonese restaurant that evokes the nostalgic charm of mid-century Hong Kong cafes.

Naldam House itself is a splendidly revitalized and celebrated heritage landmark in Brisbane. It masterfully blends its rich historical character with contemporary elegance, honoring its past while incorporating dynamic, modern touches.

The staff truly stood out, providing exceptional attentiveness and fostering a genuinely warm and inviting atmosphere. During our discussions, we learned about the numerous successful weddings, corporate functions, and celebrations that have taken place here. The venue's versatility is remarkable, particularly with two dedicated event floors that allow for seamless room transformations while guests enjoy refreshments on another level.

The culinary offerings were absolutely superb. I highly recommend the spicy 'nduja and ricotta, which was clearly prepared with incredibly fresh ingredients, delivering a memorable burst of flavor. The bagel benedict and croque madame also received high praise.

I wholeheartedly endorse Naldam House for any event. I have complete confidence in the team's ability to cultivate an enjoyable ambiance and deliver an exceptional gastronomic experience. My photos do not do the venue just (they look very dark,...

Second visit and what a difference. To start with, as per last visit a really poor wine list. 1 Sav Blanc despite its popularity no NZ wines…..ok Last time great food great service This time….. Waitress hardly spoke English, we had to break into pigeon French to be understood, she had no idea of service…..we had to tell her 5 times, long casual lunch 2 minutes later….order….order now Ordered 2 serves of the croquettes, had to explain 1 full serve each………. No….we are not sharing 1 croquette Then the crowning glory…..ordered the polpette….duly arrives, wife cuts into it…..raw meat…not pink but oozing blood, had been browned and that’s it. Sent it back….taken off the bill but no apology, no can we get you something else…….nothing…. Ordered the burger and steak for mains, make sure they’re well cooked, which they were….but burger had salt tipped on it right in the middle….chefs displeasure at food being sent back? Had better at the RSL on Anzac Day Wouldn’t go back and was supposed to speak to them about a work function for 40 people……….be calling The Stanley tomorrow We had a voucher from a friend for my birthday which we mentioned upon arrival, then treated like merde after, obviously thought we could afford to be there, which did give us a laugh, we don’t rely on tips Naturally no tip which the non English speaking waitress got huffy about. He’s a tip…….improve your game Naldham house you dropped the ball big time today Absolutely shocking service, second rate food and guess what? You’re not Chiltern...

A restaurant in such a beautiful heritage building, one of the most spectacular and historic in Brisbane, has a high bar to meet but they've done it. The fit out inside is tastefully modern but sympathetic to the 1888 build. We were concerned the food wouldn't live up to the setting but fortunately, exec chef Doug Keyte and his team have done a fine job. It's a classic Brasserie-style menu that hits many of the usual notes but throws in a few twists. Always happy to see reasonably priced fresh bread. The mortadella croquettes were excellent, the calamari and fennel combination was beautifully balanced. The lobster spaghetti is in the top 5 of Brisbane pasta dishes. Loved the Green Godesse sauce with the snapper but the potato pavé was the highlight. The berry Millefeuille was simply perfect and we loved the rhum baba but felt it could have done with another ingredient to give more colour and balance out the generous shot of rum. Service was top notch except that the appetisers and starters came out together so we're having our cocktails with our starters and the calamari was cold by the time we got to it. Id expect then to come out separately as they are from different sections of the menu...or at least ask. Other than that though, a perfect experience and one of the best new openings amongst many that we've had in Brisbane the past 6 months. Definitely coming back for the Beef Cheek Pithivier when the weather turns.
