I've been a long time customer at Danbo ramen. I visted Danbo in the city on the 15th of May around 1pm. Today I wanted to have a nice lunch with my friend but the customer service was disappointing. I scanned the QR as I've always done. Sometimes it would pop me on a "pick up or delivery menu" or just the menu itself. Many times in the past I've clicked the pick up menu and had no problem as my food just came as normal in a bowl. Today was different, the QR link only gave me the pick up or delivery options. So I had no problem in mind clicking the pick up option since I've never had any issues in the past. It told me to pay, and I thought the system has changed. No, i was wrong. Then I've realised my order was an actual pick up, I was irritated since the QR link has always given me the pick up option and had no problem in the past. A worker asked me if I wanted it remade, I kindly said yes until another worker came back and said "this is your order" and I asked if she could put it in a bowl and she said no. I understand where she is coming from as I work in hospitality too and wouldn't wanted to waste food but I did not ask her to throw it but simply asked her to place it in a bowl so it easier to eat and also for the dine-in experience. After she said no I did not want to make a fuss and just accepted to eat from the takeaway container which wasn't a pleasant experience because my friend was eating from a normal bowl. If I were her I would've just accepted the request to make the customer have a good dine-in experience, plus it wasn't a tedious request. After my friend paid, the worker had the audacity to tell us to download the app and sign up to be a member. I understand she meant no harm in the comment but as explained from my past experience it was not my fault your system is weird and glitchy. Danbo, you guys need to fix your QR system because not every customer would want to sign up and download the app. Change it so you only have one menu which displays "dine in, pick up and deliver" so every customer can have a smooth experience...

Google Reviews had me Catfished 🤦‍♂️

Food Summary 🍜 Unfortunately ramen noodles too firm and didn't taste right.. Gyoza was good but nothing to talk about (slightly above average).

My love for Ramen ♥️ Eaten ramen through Japan, including their famous Michelin Star ramen resturants and would say that I'd eat ramen almost weekly if not fortnightly. Each person to their own... It may have been related to the time as it was not busy.. not that it's an excuse. Hard to say as the reviews highly recommend this place and I unfortunately didn't get the same experience. I'll try one of their other stores and edit this review.. FINGERS CROSSED 🤦‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Service 🧑‍🍳 Service was good. Wouldn't fault!

Location 📍 and space was not great. The vibe and space of the restaurant felt void and cold. Would say that this resturant is more suited to takeaway than dine in if you're looking for a spot. Overall, lacking experience.. what comes to mind is eating at a University Campus.. I'll leave it there.

All part of the experience of finding good Ramen but unfortunately this...

I was a huge fan of Ramen Danbo when they only had one shop in Southport - living in Logan at the time I would drive down to Southport just to get a bowl of ramen.

When I travelled to Japan I told people Danbo in Southport Australia had the best Fukuoka ramen.

Then the south brisbane shop came. I was super excited as I had moved to the city at the point. Then came the disappointment after I placed my usual order. Something's off with the broth even though the menu and everything was exactly the same. Something's off with the noodle.

And a few months later this location opened.

It's just not even close. The broth, the noods, the toppings, nothing is right even when it looks exactly the same. Especially when Taro is just round the corner, I really can't think of any reason to come here anymore.

I just wanted that excitement of going down to Southport...

Ramen Danbo gets points for speed; the food comes out pretty quickly, and the ramen is decent. What I appreciated most was the ability to customise my order – adjusting the broth and noodle firmness, and even adding extra toppings and noodles to suit my taste. However, I must admit that the ambiance left much to be desired. The restaurant's vibe and space felt somewhat cold and lacking in warmth. In my opinion, Ramen Danbo seems better suited for a quick takeaway option rather than a dine-in experience, especially if you're seeking a cozy atmosphere. To add to that, it's worth mentioning that the prices can be a bit on the higher side compared to similar options in the area. Overall, it's a reliable spot for a quick ramen fix, but don't expect an inviting dine-in atmosphere, and be prepared for slightly higher prices.
