A Golden Review for the Hideout Café Latte Art Class with Tom Wow, wow, wow! Everyone should rush to Hideout Café to get a spot in one of these ridiculously amazing classes! I recently took the Latte Art Class taught by Tom, and I can say that I've come out a much better home barista than when I got there. This isn't just a class; it's a deep dive into the craft, delivered with genuine enthusiasm. You can really tell that this is a passion for Tom and the entire crew at Hideout Café. A World-Class Setup and Instruction The training area was immaculately set up, a testament to the hard work I've seen them put in over the last few months. I started coming to Hideout during their renovation, and to see them grow and now have their dedicated training room complete is absolutely incredible. I'm so lucky to be a part of the first few classes! If you are a home barista or just looking to upscale your latte art and coffee knowledge, this is the spot. I’ve been to over 120 cafés in the past year, and without a doubt, Hideout is in my top five, if not my favorite in Brisbane. It’s a true gem, and it's fantastic they have two locations in the city! The latte art class in particular was fun and there was never a dull moment. I took it with one other student, and the two-students-to-one-instructor ratio was absolutely perfect. It gave us time to learn from one another and prevented us from feeling overly pressured, even as a beginner coffee artist. Fast-Paced Learning and Expert Guidance While I'm no beginner to the world of coffee, I am a beginner in the world of being a barista and a coffee artist. Tom quickly scheduled me in, and we were on our way to making beautiful art! While I must say I was not good at the start, I progressed quickly, and that is 100% due to the excellent teaching and instruction by Tom. You'll start by learning the basics of espresso, then quickly move into properly steaming the milk. You then learn the correct form when pouring your milk before moving quickly into learning three different basic latte arts: the heart, the tulip, and what I call the squiggle! I have to give major props to Tom for offering instruction that is clear and easy to follow—this class is truly meant for anyone and everyone interested in coffee. I look forward to checking out some of their other classes in the future. I really appreciate the time and care from everyone at Hideout Café. It’s truly a second home in the center of Brisbane, a place where I can always expect amazing coffee and a truly wonderful group of people. Book this class—you won't regret it!

The Hideout Specialty Coffee This café is a very interesting mix of a busy café in the CBD of Brisbane integrated at the ground floor of an office building and a niche, high-end specialty shop for absolute specialty nerds. The footfall at 9 o’clock was huge. All four baristas were doing their best to keep up with the crowd: they served one milk beverage after the other into take-away cups. The main choose was one of the three espresso blends: 1. Chocolate 🍫 & Nutty 🥜, 2. Cashew & Jam 🍯, and 3. Blueberry 🫐. I have been watching this for about an hour when suddenly one guest took a seat at the bar right next to a deep freezer. The barista took a bag of a very exclusive NinetyPlus coffee out of the freezer and brewed a manual pour-over coffee for the guest. It was nice to observe who is drinking specialty coffee in Australia 🇦🇺: I saw men and women of all ages, from casual to elegant, from workers in their work uniform to a very elegant older man in a beautiful suit and tie: EVERYONE enjoyed specialty coffee without a fuss in Australia. But only one went to the high-end super NinetyPlus 😎, and he definitely did not look like a “coffee nerd”. On this day I enjoyed a beautiful flat white with a unicorn 🦄 pattern. The barista was super kind to prepare a filter flight of the three batch brew coffees: Costa Rica 🇨🇷, Kenya 🇰🇪, and Ethiopia 🇪🇹. That was a very nice comparison. All coffees tasted great, but they were very different from one to each other. And as it was our lucky 🍀 day! We got asked whether we want to have a taste flight of the NinetyPlus coffee out of the freezer 🥶! This coffee was a flavor bomb 💣. I am thrilled to see that a busy café in an office building can serve the crowd their milk beverages with espresso blends - absolutely zero fuss and then the most beautiful latte art and the most expensive pour overs when requested. In addition they had a huge choice of retail coffees available to the many customers. Thank you! That was a super cool experience.

Service: 5/5 - The staff members are welcoming and kind, greeting everyone with a smile. They're patient in answering questions and are willing to repeat themselves for clarity. Even during busy hours, their service remains prompt. Coffee: 5/5 - This place served the best coffee I've tried this month. They use high-quality Zest coffee beans. I ordered the Hamasho batch brew and was also given a sample of Finca Al Gloria without even asking for it. The Hamasho had a delightful fruitiness, balanced perfectly with acidity and sweetness without any hint of bitterness. I appreciated the baristas' choice of these distinctly different coffee beans for the batch brew. They cater to a wide range of coffee lovers - the Finca would likely appeal to those who enjoy notes of spice, chocolate, and caramel etc over fruity flavours. My wife ordered a flat white and it was one of the best in Brisbane. Kudos to the baristas! Vibe: 5/5 - It's a pleasant spot to start your day, with reasonable seating areas. Parking: There's no parking available on site. I parked my car on the street by Roma Park, which is a short 3-5 minute walk away. Cleanliness: 5/5 - The place was spotless. In conclusion, I highly recommend this cafe for all coffee lovers, whether you prefer milk-based coffee or appreciate the unique notes of single-origin.
