I recently had the absolute pleasure of dining at River Quay Fish, and I have to say that my experience was made truly exceptional thanks to our incredible waitress, Jade. She provided, without a doubt, the best service I have ever experienced, and I am already planning my next visit solely because of how outstanding she was.

From the moment we arrived, Jade greeted us with a warm and genuine smile, immediately setting the tone for a fantastic night. Her attentiveness was impeccable; she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring that drinks were topped up, dishes arrived promptly, and that we felt completely taken care of throughout the entire meal.

What stood out the most was Jade’s deep knowledge of the menu. She effortlessly guided us through our choices, offering thoughtful recommendations that suited our tastes perfectly. It was clear she had a true passion for both the cuisine and ensuring her guests had the best possible experience. Her enthusiasm was contagious, making us even more excited about our meal.

Beyond professionalism, Jade brought a genuine personal touch to the service. She engaged with us in a way that felt sincere and natural, striking the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space to enjoy our time. Her timing was flawless—checking in at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive.

Her attention to detail was remarkable—she remembered our preferences, ensured our table was always tidy, and even offered thoughtful suggestions for pairings that enhanced our experience. She managed multiple tables with ease, making it clear that she takes great pride in her work and truly excels at it.

In short, Jade went above and beyond in every aspect of the dining experience. It’s rare to come across someone who embodies all the qualities that make a great waitress—efficiency, warmth, professionalism, knowledge, and an uncanny ability to make guests feel valued.

I will absolutely be returning to River Quay Fish because of Jade’s outstanding service. She turned a simple night out into an unforgettable experience, and I sincerely hope the management recognizes the gem they have on their team. If you're dining here, I highly recommend asking to be seated in Jade’s section—you're guaranteed an...

This place saved us from having an unforgettable double birthday celebration for my mother and me. I had booked a different seafood restaurant (that shall remain nameless, even though it's not well known) only to turn up to the place to find it CLOSED. No courtesy call, even though I booked a week in advance.

To cut a long story short, I did a random online search and stumbled upon River Quay Fish. Took a gamble by showing up without having made any reservation. Well, my drive across town was worth it. The person who greeted us was very accommodating after I informed him of our dilemma, providing my party of three a table with a fabulous river view (they all have river views, by the way).

The food was to everyone's liking. I ordered the barramundi from the Northern Territory that was nestled on a bed of mashed potato and broccolini (which was cooked just right and a nice green colour), while my companions shared a classic seafood platter that I helped myself to, in between eating my food. My only suggestion to the chef would be to make the barramundi skin crispier, that's all.

The calamari was nicely crumbed, tender and NOT rubbery. The prawns tasted beautiful, I'm told (I was too slow in sampling), the oysters fresh and the chips were super crunchy with a dash of spices that made them even tastier. The fish was also nicely cooked and not greasy.

The venue only had two visible staff members who handled the flood of lunch patrons with aplomb. There was a very brief wait to take our orders but the waiter was mindful and attentive to customers, letting them know he hadn't forgotten to take their orders.

For a place that had more customers than wait staff, the efficiency of the service ran very smoothly.

As an avid foodie, I highly recommend this place as a go-to for seafood. The prices are reasonable and not excessive and you get a bonus river view on top. I will definitely return, only this time with more people (don't worry RQF, I will make a reservation when the time comes).

Thanks for saving the day, River Quay Fish! You made my mum (and me) very satisfied patrons on their day of back-to-back birthday...

My partner & I were at RQF on NYE but as we booked a few months in advance we didn’t book the set menu event offered. Unfortunately for those that did things did not go well on the night. The young staff looked as though they had been hired especially for the event & struggled on the night. Hard to blame these young people as they tried hard but with not much help (it seemed) from senior staff/managers. Good news for us though was as we weren’t part of the set menu event we could order from the menu. Our food was served promptly, steaming hot & was delicious. Service on the night was only ok but this was due to them being in the weeds trying to cope with the set menu debacle. Unfortunately didn’t get part of our meal but wasn’t worried, but mentioned to the young girl when paying & was given a discount on the meal after she consulted her manager which was appreciated. Second time we have dined here & our experiences have both been excellent. Set menu diners were not happy when we left at 9pm (they had been there since 6pm) & I completely understand the negative feedback left here by those diners, but if you can look past that event & book dinner at this restaurant I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. To the frustrated diners I recommend trying them again as their food has been excellent both times we have dined there. RQF definitely need to do better with events like this & you definitely need to support the young staff better. Diners around us realised it wasn’t their fault but they were the ones copping the frustration of...

28th Feb 2021 - So my 5 star rating has now decreased to a 1 star. My experience this morning at this restaurant was odd and uncomfortable. The short lady with the red hair was not very hospitable. I asked for fresh water for my dog and she bought over a dirty bowl that didn't get rinsed (water was brownish with bark and leaves floating in it) so I dumped it out and kindly asked again for fresh water and she looked annoyed and didn't even give me eye contact when she took the bowl. She literally came back to our table without any acknowledgement and dropped the bowl of water a further away from our table. So we just got up and left to go next door for breakfast instead. The Jetty was much more accommodating and dog friendly - the waiter was kind and even bought fresh water over for our dog without prompting. If you have a bad attitude or are just having a bad day, trust me, your negative energy is vibrated through to your customers. And unfortunately in a competitive f&b industry where customer service is priority one bad experience can lose you a regular customer. Lovely benny's breakfast this morning on Oct 11 202p. Male staff was lovely and helpful.

Arrived for coffee, and stayed for lunch. Coffee was excellent. Food was fresh and tasty. Venue is clean. Service was friendly and prompt. Portions and prices are typical of the area. We arrived without a booking at 11am and just wanted a couple of coffees but curious about the breakfast options. Conversation continued and we expected we’d stay for lunch. Staff were great in checking in, particularly around kitchen times. We had some challenges with seating, in that we were seated inside at the back, then after our coffee they wanted to move us because of a large group booking. However, when we arrived there were several 2-person tables in the front that were marked “reserved” that remained vacant for over an hour. (And we weren’t allowed to sit there.) Not an issue, but seemed a bit awkward. My partner had the salmon which was excellent. My fish (whiting) and chips was wonderful with a generous salad portion, although the chips were pretty average (small bits and undercooked) for the price and didn’t match the quality of the rest of the meal.
