Tucked into the South Bank Parklands, Epicurious Garden is a wonderful surprise — part community garden, part edible education space, and all heart. It’s small, but beautifully maintained by passionate volunteers who clearly care about what they do.

There’s a great mix of herbs, veggies, and fruiting plants growing in well-laid-out beds, and plenty of signage for those curious about what’s what. If you’re lucky and time your visit right, there’s even a fresh produce stand where they give away herbs or veggies for free — a lovely gesture and a true community spirit.

It’s peaceful, fragrant, and surprisingly calming for a spot in the middle of the city. Kids love exploring the garden paths, and green thumbs will find inspiration in the seasonal planting and clever use of space.

🌿 Tip: Check the opening hours if you’re hoping to chat with volunteers or grab produce — they’re usually there a few mornings a week.

A refreshing, grounding little space that reminds you how good things grow with care...

What a wonderful concept! This garden is not only a tranquil city spot to enjoy some soulful rest (possibly the most helpful part of epicurean philosophy) but an inspiring ode to the humble veggie patch! I now see the possibilities for my own small herb garden. (Epicurus's thinking may not be such a great fit for those of us today who still need to work for a living, nor does it acknowledge that the simple things in life most of us still long for, take far more effort to attain than doing nothing at all. “As Epicurean scholar George K. Strodach maintains, the Epicurean gods are gloriously idle: ‘Their perfection and self-involvement absolved them from doing anything—from motion and activity of any sort and from all duties and...

I thought this place was for kids and families, not junkies begging me for cash and drugs, every step I took was a loud crunch because the ground was fully covered in needles

The pool that's apparently for kids had 3 bloated corpses floating in it, all of them were covered in boils (especially under the armpits and in moist areas) im a bit of a history buff and I don't want to cause alarm but the symptoms were worryingly similar to the black plague, again I don't want to cause alarm or terror but there was 3 bloated corpses covered in Bubonic plague boils in a KIDS pool so I am begging you not to go here you will contract a medieval disease...

The Epicurious Garden is a must-visit destination at South Bank for foodies and gardening enthusiasts. Epicurious Garden shares the same vision as the Greek philosopher Epiciurious; to pursue pleasure and happiness around food. So go explore the garden’s edible plant life and see what fresh produce looks, feels and smells like. Gardner volunteers are onsite from 7-11.30am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and If you stop by from 7am-2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, you can also collect free produce from the garden’s harvest cart.
