While the food was impeccable, I felt annoyed after my experience with Southern Seoul Chicken both because of false advertising, and service.
I ordered a “Burger Lovers Pack” via DoorDash and both the advertised picture and the item description said that it came with chips and a 1.25L drink. When the meal was delivered it did not have any chips nor drink. I called the restaurant and they told me that it was no longer an option on the menu, which I can understand; But to have the Burger Lovers Pack advertising a full meal with chips and a drink is misleading and I feel as if I shouldn’t have paid the full amount to not have either delivered.
Even when I called the restaurant to ask about why this was and resolve the problem, the person on the other end was impatient and condescending about the whole issue. I tried to explain that even if I couldn’t get a refund, the advertising should at least be changed to be accurate for future customers, and he said this was an issue with DoorDash. After, he explained that we could reimburse me with chips in the future, which I appreciated. When I tried to get further details on this, he hung up on me.
Thankfully, DoorDash offered a solution, but I feel as if Southern Seoul Chicken should make some changes. It’s a shame because the food was good and left me wanting more, but the service was...
Read moreOMG. Easily one of the BEST burgers I’ve ever had. I got the spicy chicken burger meal thingy and it was sososo good. Chicken was juicy and tender, crunchy on the outside, the slaw was crisp, not too overpowering and the Korean gochujang sauce was just spicy enough without killing the flavour. The brioche bun was so soft and the chips were to DIE FOR. So crispy and crunchy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. I would’ve liked a little more salt but to each their own. The entire atmosphere was so cool and the ambience was just awesome. Clean, good seating, amazing customer service. Burger was ONLY $12.95!!! So happy. The chips were a little overpriced for a small meal considering how cheap everything else was ($6.50 or something and a small drink to add to make a burger meal) but the quality and service makes up for it entirely. My parents got the 12pc wings and drumettes and the sauce was so good and flavourful but we all agreed that the burger was by far the best. Wait was only 5min but our food was piping hot and obviously fresh. I don’t usually review places but I can’t stop raving about this experience. Wish I could -st a picture to show just how strangely pretty the food was but it was gone so quick I didn’t get the chance lmao. Would give a 10/10 if I could and...
Read moreSo, I tried Southern Seoul Fried Chicken and Beers, and it was kind of a bummer. The fried chicken wasn't like the real deal you get from Korean joints—it just didn't hit the mark. The food, in general, wasn't any better than what you'd get at KFC.
The buffalo chicken wings were tiny and pricey, and they reminded me more of Pizza Hut than anything else. The garlic soy chicken, only available in popcorn form, wasn't seasoned well and tasted like KFC popcorn with sweet soy sauce on top. And don't even get me started on the loaded chips—they were thick and crispy, but the mayo sauce they slapped on ruined the whole thing. I'd strongly advise against ordering those online.
I'd rate this place a solid 1 out of 10, and the only reason it's not a complete disaster is because, well, you can eat it. If you know your way around proper Korean fried chicken, skip this spot. Go check out Mono Chicken or Maru—they're run by Koreans and offer the real deal. Trust me; you'll...
