Sumak Mediterranean Cuisine & Kebabs is an absolute gem in the heart of Kelvin Grove. This family-owned business has been recently revitalized, and it shows in every aspect—from the warm, attentive service to the exceptional quality of the food. Nestled next to beautiful, established fig trees, the outdoor undercover seating creates a tranquil and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal in any weather.

The food is nothing short of outstanding—authentic, generous, and packed with rich Mediterranean flavors. Unlike many other Mediterranean restaurants that overcharge for small portions, Sumak delivers high-quality dishes with hearty servings at an incredibly affordable price. We had the Mixed Grill, which was an absolute feast: Adana, chicken shish, lamb shish, and smoky, spice-marinated chicken wings that were grilled to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and infused with that irresistible charred aroma. The house-made dips and salads were fresh and bursting with flavor, showcasing the team’s commitment to authenticity and detail. There’s even delicious Mediterranean desert options to end with if you have a sweet tooth and of course the tea is on point.

I’m honestly blown away by the level of care and craftsmanship that goes into every dish here. Sumak delivers a true taste of Turkey without the inflated price tag, proving that incredible Mediterranean food doesn’t have to come at a premium. Ever since my boyfriend and I found this place, it has been our go-to. I know the employees by name and love their smiles and wonderful welcoming attitudes. Seeing them (and the food) always makes my day and they're never not generous with the chicken salt on chips. The prices are amazing too, and they have student discounts so if you are a student, show your ID at the counter :D

The atmosphere is calm and relaxing in the afternoon and more romantic, warm lighting in the evenings. I've also been there with his family and they also loved the food and the variety of options there - suitable for all ages and genders.

The wraps are also customisable which I love, so you can choose the vegetables you like and deselect the ones you don't like (for me I don't like onion, so I'd get carrot, lettuce and cucumber instead). Moreover, the sauces are delicious and portion sizes large but not too large that you can't finish them. So filling, such good customer service, great atmosphere, so worth it.

My friend recommended Sumak knowing how much we love Turkish food. It was super busy when we arrived (and now I totally get why), but the beautiful staff looked after us right away and had a table ready as quickly as possible!

We definitely over-ordered… but honestly, no regrets. We got to take the leftovers home, and every single bite was worth it.

The mixed grill was incredible—and hands down had the best Adana I’ve had in Australia. The spinach pide was packed with flavour, and the lahmacun was just perfect: thin, crisp, and so very satisfying....🤤

And the bread they serve with the mains is Out. Of. This. World.

For someone who is hard to please, this was a solid 10/10. I'd happily go back multiple times a week if we weren't living an hour away 🤣. Highly recommend!!!

P.S. The baklava with the ice cream with Turkish tea was the BEST ending...
