If you are in a band in Brisbane, then The Junk Bar is a must-play-venue! We can’t wait to play there again! Here’s a review of the last time we played at The Junk Bar that we never got around to posting. We can’t wait to come back and gig again! The Day After, Your Ultimate Small Stage Powerhouse! As the lights dimmed and the anticipation in the room grew, the unmistakable energy of Aussie rock band The Day After was palpable. With a reputation for their thunderous sound and unparalleled live performances, this band has become a must-see for fans seeking an intimate and unforgettable experience. From the moment the first chord struck, The Day After proved that they are a force to be reckoned with. Their unique blend of gritty rock and engaging melodies filled the small venue of The Junk Bar in Brisbane with an intensity that could rival any arena show. The band's explosive sound and captivating presence seemed to defy the constraints of the stage, leaving the audience in awe of their larger-than-life performance. Lead singer Ben's raw and powerful vocals reverberated through the crowd, showcasing his impressive range and emotive delivery. Meanwhile, guitarist JD skillfully navigated intricate riffs and solos, his fingers seemingly flying across the fretboard. The rhythm section, anchored by bassist Rob and drummer Crew, provided a rock-solid foundation that allowed the band to fully unleash their sonic potential. The Day After's setlist was a thrilling rollercoaster ride through their discography, including fan favorites and deep cuts that showcased their versatility as musicians. Each song transitioned seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive and engaging performance. The band also paid homage to their Aussie and Kiwi roots with some heart-pounding covers of classic Aussie and Kiwi rock anthems, which had the audience singing along at the top of their lungs. In addition to their musical prowess, The Day After's chemistry and camaraderie were truly inspiring. The band members interacted with the audience throughout the show, sharing personal stories and joking with fans between songs. This genuine connection only added to the atmosphere of authenticity and passion that defined the evening. By the time the final notes of the encore rang out, it was clear that The Day After had left an indelible mark on everyone in attendance. Their ability to transform a small stage into a powerhouse of sound and emotion is a testament to their talent and dedication to their craft. As the crowd filed out of the venue, still buzzing from the euphoric experience, it was evident that The Day After is not just a band to watch – they are a band to be felt, heard, and remembered.

It’s really nice to a “ local “ just down the road and for Ashgrovians the Junk bar is exactly that! It been here since about 2010 and I have enjoyed many visits! It’s somewhat quirky with 1970 s photography wallpaper of wild Canadian wilderness! It is amazing how many people that can comfortably fit in such a small place ! A good range of drinks is available although there’s no Kitchen staff are happy to fetch you a pizza from across the street My favourite drink is a cocktail called the junk cherry It is made with Cointreau Vodka Cambord and cream topped with a cherry ! It tasted like a Black Forest cake! Occasionally local band scans artist s perform in an adjoining performance space .it has room for 30 -40 It is easier to find now it has a bright sign on the awning, for many years there was no exterior advertisement advising it’s location!

Kinda kooky bar, staff were nice and service fine. Food was slow (and in some cases unavailable). Cocktails were nice and well made. I'd be more of a fan of the type & cost if drinks matched the "shabby chic" setup; paying $17-$18 for an espresso martini is a lot easier to justify in a nice chair and a nice room - having a few local draught beers or at least reasonably priced cans/bottles would make a bit more sense. The little venue room is nice and fairly well kitted out, so worth going to see a show or whatever, but would suggest eating before hand.

Well one mans Junk is another Treasure! ( sorry) ....this is a great little place to chill and snack chat with friends. Its a top spot if you ever want to start the evening early to get warmed up...feels late inside even if its early avo/evening ....the food is really very good and a great surprise. Its nice to have table service to ...although sometimes can be lacking on drink ordering side bit hit and miss...but above average and means you can keep talking with out someone having to leave the group to get drinks which is so nice to have and one of their top selling points and should be a focus of staff. I think the default rule should be if the vessel is empty a drink is going to be required asap. Junk Bar suits Small groups best under 6 ish people and Booking a Table is a must. I had a birthday drinky's & nibbles everyone loved it. ..the Music room ...its fun to catch a show here and to see a acoustic set. But suggest they need to buy a heap chairs to make it comfortable say fold out low deck chairs at very front then more higher fold outs and tables at rear and on bigger show nights completely remove tables from back for standing. Oh and the Air Con in the music room is just not up to job and needs upgrading and is letting side down....No sign out front so clues are required ...try and find this bar with out a google map and sharp eye! its hard but worth it...This is very very well hidden Treasure worth the hunt...oh and be careful its very easy to Trashed at...

I think I went at an off time and day. Ordered two cocktails at opening on a Sunday.

The service/staff were lovely.

My first choice of 'The Shivering Phoenix' was unavailable as the venue was out of their house-made sugar syrup. The second cocktail 'Hold me and Cry Martini' came without the garnishes as mentioned on the menu (no fresh flowers) and was so heavy on the bitters it was just gnarly. The second cocktail 'Lemon Royale' was awful and unbalanced, and could do without the uneven sugar rim. Neither cocktail looked appealing.

The venue itself needed a good clean (especially vacuuming). I appreciated the vibe of the furniture and overall aesthetic, but I'd sub out - or repair - the broken lamps and damaged lounges for ones that were in better shape (and as an avid picker, this is not too difficult and doesn't break the bank). The music choice was on point. It was a really hot day, and it was hot and a little stuffy inside. The bathroom lock needs to be fixed.

It was ok but I would...
