Jacaranda Coffee Lane — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Absolutely LOVED the food. Very tasty and well priced and attention to details: garnish on all food/drinks even the extra avocado was presented as its own dish.

Service was extremely friendly by the floor staff members except (and this is the ONLY reason it got a 4 instead of a 5 star) - I called the cafe in advance thinking maybe I should book - a man with an accent picked up the phone and I asked if I can make a booking for today (Sunday) and he quickly said in a impatient manner “we don’t take bookings on weekends or public holidays okay thank you bye bye” as if I was wasting his time and then hung up straight after without me having the chance to say anything in response. ........ I was speechless anyway. I almost didn’t go because of the RUDENESS of the male staff. But because a trusted friend highly recommended their food so I still went. At 12 they weren’t that busy at all - so I don’t see why he had to be so rude. Drinks were swiftly served but the other minor down side was that they were a bit slow in terms of getting the dishes onto the table - but the anguish waiting for food to come diminished as we tasted the food. I never leave negative reviews, but this place was such a massive disappointment！

We arrived around 11am on a Sunday. The staff greeted us quickly and we were seated right away. The two waitresses seemed super busy, but we were excited to try the food since we had seen so many positive reviews and recommendations from social media.

And then… we waited. And waited. And waited. 45 minutes of sitting there for absolutely nothing.

After 30 minutes, we noticed two tables who came after us had already received their meals. We were trying to be patient, assuming the kitchen was just slammed. But after 45 minutes, we finally asked the waitress to check on our order—only to be told that our order was never even placed.

So basically, we just sat there for 45 minutes for no reason.

What makes it worse? When we asked if our food was coming, the waitress who originally took our order handed us the menu again and asked, “Did you order?” I was like Excuse me?! You took our order!

This level of disorganization and lack of basic service is just unacceptable. The café wasn’t even that full. Staff were walking around looking busy, but clearly not actually getting anything done.

The venue has a lovely little vibe going on, very bright, clean and good volume of music. The male server was very polite and happy, it was a pleasure to be served by him. I ordered an iced coffee and the Salmon Tartare on rye with poached eggs, The ice coffee comes out as a double shot of espresso in one cup and the milk and ice cream in the other, this gave me a chance to taste the fresh espresso, it was a very nice espresso.

The Salmon tartare came out with a wonderful presentation, and for the price it was a huge meal. The tartare itself was excellent and the poached eggs were done to perfection. There was a wedge of fresh lime that when drizzled on the tartare turned it from excellent to divine when pared with the avocado and cucumber and dill.

To finish off the meal I was given a complimentary assortment of fruits from the melon and grape family covered in a little whipped cream with popping rocks in it. I've never tried this before but let me tell you it was a delight!
