Benny's Bar & Cafe — Restaurant in Fremantle

Absolutely DISGUSTING service, do not go here, you will get better service at a fast food restaurant I have always rated Benny’s as a great place and often recommended to others, but not after today!! Went to Bennys for my son n laws birthday, upon arriving we were told it would be a 30 minute wait on food,, we were fine with that, ordered some drinks & our meals. after our drinks came the empty table next to ours was filled with people & their orders were taken about 30 mins after we had ordered ours,, 30 mins later the table next to us were getting their meals,, it had now been 1 hr since we ordered, so a member of our table got up to question where our meals were to staff,, the waitress walked over to kitchen & we saw them flicking through the order dockets, but she never came back with a response, just left her standing by bar!! few minutes later the 2 kids meals came out, great we thought, finally getting our food, but no, then we saw table behind us had started to get their meals & they arrived ages after the people next to us,, so then we got up again and asked how long before the rest came, again she just walked off and didn’t give a response, so then my son in law got up and asked the same thing & questioned why these 2 tables were served before ours - the response was rude, he was told we hadn’t been there for an hour at all, blatantly called him a liar & was told the tables aren’t done in order because it depends on what you order as to how long it takes, blah blah blah & i find that to be a poor response considering the table next to ours had pretty much ordered the same dishes😡 by this stage the whole experience & the rudeness of your waitresses was just so disgusting & un bearable, we just had to leave - as we were leaving we went to pay for our drinks & the 2 kids meals, even though the meals weren’t eaten, then more rudeness came from your staff as we were told we had to pay for the meals that we didn’t even receive because it was unfair if we didn’t - are you serious, what an absolute joke of a place - how about it being unfair on us at all levels- a wasted 2 hours of our day,, & not a very good birthday for my son in law,,,, You really need to sort your rude staff out Bennys, not once did we get an apology, not once did we get a decent response from your staff, really, really, terrible, i will never recommend your cafe again & will never visit again, like i stated earlier, you get better service from a fast...

First service person expected us to know what we wanted to drink before we had even looked at the menu, then after waiting for what seemed like forever 3 coffees arrived but the one person that asked for water at our table still didn’t have any Within 5 minutes of ordering coffee we were asked if we were ready to order, we politely asked for 5 minutes as we hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu, then after all the haste and pressure to order drinks and food within 5 minutes of being seated, then nobody came near us for 15 minutes or more for our food order, and still no water After finally ordering we proceeded to sit and wait and wait in the mean time people that had been seated well after us were having their food brought out to them, keeping in mind this was breakfast service so nothing complicated, after asking someone to check on our order we were told it was about 3 minutes away, nearly 10 minutes later I got up from our table, and went and asked one of the many female chiefs, as there seemed to be a lot of them and very few indians running around and few token workers, I asked if I needed to go to the kitchen and collect our food and pointed out that customers seated after us had nearly finished eating, yet again we were fobbed off and told it would be there soon, our food order finally arrived almost an hour after we had ordered, by this stage we were wishing we had got up and walked out, knowing that we were clearly not happy not once did management check in on us, and please let me clarify our order consisted of kids plain pancakes, a ham and cheese croissant which we were horrified that the cheese in it was what we refer to as plastic cheese, poached eggs on toast with bacon, eggs were like rubber bullets and the bacon had not been any where near a hot plate or grill, guessing an oven job so not appetising bacon at all, the very small token was the pork benedict When paying before we left yet again we expressed our disappointment, as we have been coming to Bennys on and off over the last 16 or more years, one of the many “chiefs” gave a very tongue in cheek apology and our response is that Bennys won’t be seeing us again. Dined in on a Tuesday night so was not overly busy. We sat outside which was nice. It was cool but one of the outdoor heaters was on which made it very comfortable.

All the staff we encountered on the night were professional and friendly.

Food was a little slow to come out but we were in no hurry and were enjoying our drinks in the meantime. Garlic bread came out nice and hot - generous sized pieces x 4. It was delicious. Just the right amount of garlic!

Mains - We ordered Involtini Di Pollo which was rolled chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto, spinach and ricotta. Omg so divine. perfectly white, perfectly cooked moist chicken. The mustard sauce was delicious and they did not skimp on the pine nuts! Was served with broccolini instead of string beans as stated on menu but I didn't mind the switch at all (there was no mention that it was going to be changed, it just came out like that). Good sized portion.

Second main we ordered was Scalopinni Boscaiola - also a delicious main. The sauce was rich and full of flavour and the meat was tender and a generous sized serve. Side salad also ordered (I dont think it was on the menu - we just asked for it) which was very fresh and needed to balance the meal a little.

Only critisism of the mains was that they were not hot - just warm.

Not a bad drinks menu either and some great beers on tap.
