The staff behind the counter were abrupt. Both the cashier and the drink maker. The only saving grace was the waitress with very short hair who was pleasant. The service if the staff left us all feeling like we would not like to return to this venue. The cashier seemed angry, both with barely making eye contact and her tone. Not just with me, others commented on this too. It left a sour taste in our mouths, so to speak. Our drinks were placed on the bar inside and I asked if they were mine after processing payment, and whether I should take them and the guy just shrugged at me condescendingly and stated what they were. I assumed they were mine and took them. No-one offered to bring them out. The drinks tray which our drinks were served on was dirty looking. The outside atmosphere was pleasant. The cappuccino was heavily and carelessly coated in chocolate dust (see pictures). My daughter found it difficult to drink without Inhaling chocolate powder. The glass which my Kombucha was served with did not look clean. The salmon bagel was fine. The vegetarian focaccia was good, but was unexpectedly on a bun. Our friends said their was was "okay". Price point was average to a little high. The lunch menu had some reasonably priced meals. Meals were adequately sized with plenty of plain chips. This place seems like a tourist trap and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Our advice, go elsewhere.

I'm in Fremantle for the first time, visiting from Melbourne and wasn't Gino's a sight! Where there's Italians there is fantastic coffee and food! Initially spotted because of all the elderly Italians dressed up very formally in their collared shirts, dress pants and various headwear ranging from fedoras to baseball caps in the alfresco dining area, you know the food has to be on point. Myself being of Italian heritage and based in Melbourne, I was very excited to see Gino's and it's atmosphere - Fremantle was the first stop for Italian migrants in the post WWII migration from Italy to Australia looking for their new land of opportunity. The front of house staff are Italians as well, Gino's went the whole nine yards here, the coffee is fantastic and the breakfast was too, followed by a Cannoli chaser! I certainly can recommend Gino's if you're looking for a nice breakfast, great coffee and to experience the great atmosphere with the elderly pioneers of Australia's cafe culture with their collared shirts and fedoras enjoying their retirement.

Was at Gino’s on Saturday evening. Took a chance not to make any reservations for a party of 6 and the staff were helpful to accommodate us by arranging 2 tables for us. Didn’t have to wait at all. Decide on what you want to eat from their menu and order at the counter. This place is bustling on a Saturday night ! Very happening along this street. Very lively ! If you choose to have desserts, you need to join a separate queue for it. Warning : each main dish is relatively large. The seafood is so fresh and even the squid in the spaghetti marinara was not hard and rubbery. Mussels were fresh too! We ordered both flavours and they weren’t too salty. Everything was just nice ! Mushroom risotto was made with just enough tendernesss of the rice grains. Mushrooms not too overpowering and bitter surprisingly despite a generous portion of mushrooms. The waitress was very helpful even on a busy Saturday evening and she was all smiles serving us. Don’t have space for desserts, would have loved to try their cannoli!

Haha not the most welcoming place…

I cannot speak on the food because I haven’t eaten anything. I simply went for a coffee with a friend. Giving two stars might be a bit to harsh even though I only had coffee but I m actually being generous. Because the staff was soo unfriendly. 😞

We entered the cafe and I just get a disgusting look from one of the staff, I know that look, it’s the “ah damn… we just had a big lunch service… I can’t be asked to serve more customers” look. I didn’t get “a hello how are you?” Instead I said hello first and I got a weak “hey”. We were just ordering coffee, sorry if our bill isn’t going to be good enough but at least we chose to come here. I bought my coffee and collected it at the desk and unfortunately the staff who served me it spilled quite a bit on the saucer. No big deal, these things happen… but it is nice to pay for coffee and not hold a cup sitting in a puddle of espresso and milk with stains and dried up coffee around the outside of the cup. Since I work in hospitality I would have taken the cup for myself and made a new one for the customer.

I cannot fathom that I m actually wasting time to write a whole story about coffee but moving on…

We sat down and once I finished my coffee of the staff snuck behind me and just snatched the cup away from me without saying a word!? Hahaha😅

Why not wait until we both have finished our drinks and left? It saves you from doing two trips of collecting dishes? Are you that bored at work and isn’t there something more important to do? Are you using a pedometer and trying to get the steps in for the day? Sorry for being rude but please… it gives us the impression that you don’t want us here. We simply just put a friendly face on and want to buy something, might as well let us know that you’re closing.

Anyhow that’s my lecture, I hope the staff will get better and friendlier since it seems to be a well known and popular place in Freo.

If some of the staff recognise themselves, just want to let you know that this is not personal, it’s just feedback for you that can help you do a better job and get praise from customers, don’t let this review get to your head and affect you too much. But take your job seriously and have fun, otherwise quit. Find a job that makes you happy and stuck in!! Most reviewers are more unforgiving then I am. Take care and I hope for a pleasant time...

A Fremantle Institution. One morning back in 2017 - I was in a dark place after losing my mum to cancer. I had spent six months in a Rockingham Rehab - but made the grave error of falling in love (with love, actually, it turns out). One night I had my first LSD trip in 20 years from my Canadian backpacker buddy. The day prior, DG my GF had visited from rehab and we spent all day on a blanket together under the Ferris Wheel 🛞. I proceeded to feel the acid come on strong at 11.30pm and had the most ecstatic, sad, weird, madman Syd Barrett style freak back near the Ferris 🎡! Much more weird stuff happened as the night progressed - still peaking I had wandered from the grassed park to Hungry Jacks - and I sat watching the play of the world and it's actors unfold outside Metropolis. I just kept giggling "Is this REAL?"😵‍💫. Over & over. Off my 🍌. Anyway - as the streetsweeper came and dispersed all - the beautiful girl at this coffee shop saw me on the path down outside Horatios Wall - and gave me a free coffee. Furthermore - as the cyclists rode in on that Sunday morning, a truly lovely lady 51 yo beautiful lady talked me down for 90 minutes over a coffee. She was my angel. I was 42 then & now sober three years. These are some shots around that...
