fantastic flavour!! I would rank this right up there in top 3 best Perth ramen, my other faves being Hakata Gensuke and Keisuke Tonkotsu. this ramen is perfect for when you want a different noodle style with not as heavy flavoured soup base but just as good flavour as Gensuke/Keisuke. the noodles don't seem to have as good of a handmade texture and feel a bit more artificial compared to Gensuke and Keisuke though, in my opinion. I think broth and other ingredients are most important though so I don't mind the noodles. I got the pork ramen with miso base. I went with my partner and a friend, they got the shio (salt) base and soy base soup so we got to try all 3 of the soup bases that Komatsu offers, they were all very solid and pleasant flavour. I tried the takoyaki too and it was perfect!! not too chewy, nice and hot, packed with amazing flavour and texture just how I like it. for both my ramen and takoyaki it was $20 which I think is reasonable. they also have Japanese togarashi spice you can add if you want more spicy flavour. the only thing I didn't like was the extremely drafty location we had to sit in, FOMO building has these walkways where a lot of wind blows through it making it quite cold, there were no seats left right next to the restaurant so we had to sit out in the walkway, maybe it would have been better if the walkway doors were shut? I don't know how much say the restaurant owners get in that though. otherwise it was awesome and would come back for this amazing ramen!!

Komatsu is an interesting little restaurant located within the hawker-style dining area of the FOMO precinct in Fremantle. The space has a casual, lively vibe, with shared seating among the various food venues in the area, mostly consisting of stools. It’s an ideal spot for a quick, relaxed meal in the heart of Freo. The menu at Komatsu offers a solid selection of ramen and other Japanese favourites, including chicken karaage. During summer, they also serve refreshing cold noodle dishes, which are both light and flavourful—a perfect choice for the warmer months. Ordering is straightforward: place your order, receive a pager, and pick up your meal when it’s ready. The staff are pleasant enough, and the system keeps things moving efficiently. For a budget-friendly meal, Komatsu delivers on taste and value. While the communal seating might not suit everyone, it fits well with the casual atmosphere of the FOMO area. Note: In the picture of my noodles, the roast pork topping was purchased from another vendor and added to customise my dish. Overall, Komatsu is a great choice for a quick and affordable meal, especially if you’re in the mood for tasty noodles or ramen. It’s worth a visit when exploring the vibrant FOMO dining scene.

Komatsu is the former Dosukoi in freo markets. They have moved to this new location in 2022. It is now in FOMO about 4 minutes walk from freo market. The standard is still as good. Due to the price hype, they have increased price from $9.90 to $12.50 for the ramen, which is reasonable after the pandemic inflation climate. Food is very good. Although it is missing of the small squzzey unique Japanese feel of stall in freo markets, it is now more spacious. FOMO has also an Indonesia food stall that sells Chendol, Balck glutinous rice, tempeh, nasi goreng. Additionally there is a Malaysia Laksa stall and a Chinese roast meal stall, Vietnamese Bahn mi and rolls stall and Indian food. So if you are around the area, you got to check this place out. Lastly there is even T4 a Taiwanese milk tea place and the crunchy cookie dough stall :) it is just amazing!
