I would really like rate this place zero stars if possible. For context I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for a long time, and because it's quite far away, I usually come about once a month for a meal. However, after this terrible dining experience, I don't think we will be coming back. At the beginning of January, my family and I booked a birthday lunch, expecting it to be like usual. Unfortunately, the outrageous customer service and the chef at this restaurant ruined everything.
Since it was a birthday celebration, I ordered all my favorite dishes, including two entrée, four main courses, and two seafood dishes. When we arrived at the restaurant, they had just opened, and we were the only customers there. We quickly placed our orders, mostly for the dishes we usually enjoy. However, things seemed odd right from the start. Our entrée never arrived, but instead, they brought out two seafood dishes and two vegetable dishes. The eggplant course was flavourless, which had no seasoning at all. Since we always order course, I thought it might be an accident by forgetting to add seasoning and salt. We asked the waitress about it, and she took it back to the kitchen. After some time, the eggplant dish was returned to us. We thought we could continue and it was all just a pleasant mistake, the waitress even suggested we move some dishes on the table to make space for more.
However, an infuriating incident occurred. We ordered our meals at 11:40 AM, and since we were the only table there, the first dish came within 10 minutes. Until we received the eggplant dish, it was around 12 PM, and we were still for another four dishes. At this point, another table arrived next to us, and the kitchen started serving dishes promptly to that newly seated table. Although they seemed to finish cooking all their food within 20 minutes, we waited until 1:34 PM, enduring an hour and a half of waiting, without receiving any new dishes. It extremely frustrating, and we STILL hadn't even received our entrée, the eggplant dish is the last one we had.
We asked the waitress, but she seemed busy and couldn't provide an explanation. Hungry and frustrated, we had no choice but to pay the bill finish this awkward dinning experience and considered going to another restaurant to continue celebrating the birthday. During the payment, the waitress attempted to charge us the full amount (for all eight dishes). I explained to her that we waited for an hour and a half and only received two seafood and two vegetable dishes. She said she would check and left for a long time before returning, and said that she could only charge us for the four dishes this time no apologising at all, she said the reason why we only got four dishes was because their computer was malfunctioning, and they were unaware we had ordered eight dishes. I found this to be a complete deception.
It turns out that the chef, feeling offended by our comment that the eggplant dish was flavorless, decided not to prepare our dishes. Throughout the process, the waitress asked the chef through the kitchen window about when our table's dishes would be ready. You also mentioned to us to adjust the table because more dishes were coming. So not only you but also the chefs in the kitchen were aware that we still had four main courses pending. The table next to us ordered a same main course, and when the waitress got it, she initially intended to bring it to us, but the chef instructed her to give it to the other table. I don't understand how an grown indivdiual can be temperamental from the slight suggestion, but it is clear that due to your imagined offense, you began to immaturely retaliate, therefore ultimately ruining someone's birthday celebration. It's truly...
Read moreOne of my go to Chinese restaurants on the coast. I’ve been to this place many times and food quality has been relatively consistent. Service is efficient, staff are great and friendly, very accommodating. Ordering is through the app and prices are typically reasonable and quite generous servings.
It’s a plus if you can handle spicy like a real man. No, really… the higher your tolerance, the more you will enjoy the dishes. Here are my recommendations (not in any particular order): Boneless spicy chicken (extra spicy - yep, trust me it’s not as spicy and numbing) Sweet and sour pork (not your typical takeaway - it’s really good!) Beef with rattan pepper (extra spicy - read point 1 above) Special spicy grilled barramundi (extra spicy, need I say more? Feel free to add some extras in the soup as you see fit) Sour and spicy shredded potato Griddled cauliflower Beef black pepper hot...
Read moreI highly recommend Chuan Palace restaurant! If you are looking for gourmet Chinese food, then this is the place to go on the Gold Coast. Very nice atmosphere and decor. The cuisine is like in the best restaurants in China, the spicy dishes are delicious, I especially liked the Barramundi with tomatoes and the traditional Sweet and Sour Pork with Pineapple . Fried Lamb with Cumin and Salt and pepper Tofu are also scrumptious. The portions are large. The prices are excellent. Great for a company with friends, a celebration or just a lanch and dinner. There is a karaoke and a VIP room on the top floor with a beautiful authentic atmosphere. The service is outstanding! Very polite administrators, ready to navigate the menu, attentive waiters. I really loved this place! And I'm happy to recommend it to everyone who appreciates traditional...
