Common Coffee Surfers Paradise — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I won a giveaway that they were running and went to check out their place.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to try the place but I have to say that we felt slightly unwelcomed?

They were busy, as being located in Surfers most places are, but I mean, when you win a prize (which I have had before, and as always very humbly grateful of such opportunities), you expect to be heartily welcomed and have a great experience, and although the meal itself wasn’t bad, the ‘vibe’ wasn’t the best.
I did not say anything to the owner or staff as I didn’t want to seem impolite and ungrateful that I had won this giveaway, but if I am being honest, this is how me and my friend felt.

We had 2x free breakfasts & 2x coffees/drinks for yourself and a friend, with the prize capped at $50. Which meant that if we ordered 2x breakfast $15 and 2x drinks $5, we still had $10 left that would ‘be wasted’ and we couldn’t get anything else, unless we paid for it. I understand the logistic but it didn’t make much sense to me, because if we wanted to share a cupcake still within the ‘$10’, we actually had to pay for it.

Anyway, after figuring out a way to maximise out prize just with the purpose of have a more filling me as we were both starving, we got: Brioche French Toast - Thick sliced brioche french toast drizzled with maple syrup and served with seasonal fruit & cream with added icecream, and bacon and eggs on the side. Acai Bowl - Acai bowl with granola, seasonal fruits, chia seeds & coconut flakes Coffee Frappe Almond Iced Latte

Wanted something refreshing for breakfast after a walk. Found this kiosk on Cavil Ave. We decided on takeaway but ended up eating at the seating provided. The staff were not friendly and seemed a little disinterested, talking to each other but not the customer. I am a happy, friendly person who is on holiday and loves to chat. I didn't get that chance here. The ACAI bowl was filling and tasty. My only issue was the sultanas in the Granola mix. There were too many, they were hard, and I took them all out. When speaking to the staff, they didn't really seem to care and take any notice of my feedback, and it was feedback, not a complaint. Looking at other reviews, I saw similar comments. Perhaps the owner should take note of...

New review: the coffee today was great! I was given a Capp when I asked for a flat white but it didn't bother me. We got to try the food which was cheaper than other brunch spots but super tasty and fresh with nice flavours. Would happily recommend this place, at least with the barista they have on for weekdays.
