Bride surprised me earlier this month (Jan ’24) for my Birthday dinner here receiving pretty good reviews and hype while spoiling me for a stayover at The Star. Glad we booked for an earlyish tea as the joint was packed, even for a Thursday. Welcomed well and shown to our table with a magnificent outlook over the ocean up towards Surfers Paradise coupled with a vibrant crowd and atmosphere. A timely order taken with a couple of cocktails to start with the Birthday boy firing up on the ’Wise Guy’ Negronis and her on the Presidente Margarita, later to be followed by Mojitos por favor…
Entrée of shared marinated olives came out after the cocktails which was a surprise but they were warm, well portioned and a nice blend of varieties marinated. We were excited by the mains having previewed the menu prior to arrival but decided to go share style upon my hearing of the Scallop entrée special and chatting to our helpful Waitress – how can you go wrong with them served with crisp pancetta, parsnip puree, salsa verde garnished with dill and lemon…?! A real highlight and the other three plates of Mom’s meatballs, Short rib croquettes and the Steak tacos (a true Mexican style delight with the pineapple salsa) were equally on par providing a meaty protein packed early meal ready for a fruitful night on the casino tables back up at Broadbeach. Lemoncello definitely assisted digestion and wasn’t too tart or sweet which we appreciated.
Overall, a great experience with friendly staff, orsm atmosphere and location with food to match living up to the evaluations of others. Would be a five except for a little inconsistence in cocktail prep and appearance, which probably wouldn’t be picked up unless you had multiple of the same one (Wise Guy – being my Birthday ‘n all) and a bit of cheek from the wait staff on the food presentation being ‘Instagramable’ – which it probably is, but the delivery lacked and was a little sarcastic. Definitely recommend and have done to locals and my interstate friends and...
Read moreI recently had a birthday group celebration at Siblings. When inquiring about the seating allocation prior to the event I was told that an extra seat on the verandah could not be accommodated. We were also reminded that our table would only be held for 10mins after the booking time of 6:30pm. Despite our requests to find alternative solutions for seating the extra guest the response remained, " Not possible." On arrival at 6:15pm, we were surprisingly accommodated on the verandah but then waited almost 2 hrs 25 mins to be served without anyone approaching us. A passing waiter suggested the 2+hr wait might have been due to cooking a steak?? When I attempted to question the Maitre De, with a suggestion of some breads for the guests I was rudely dismissed with, " coming now!" Considering the urgency that was impressed upon us re time of arrival, this level of service was both embarrassing and unacceptable. Even when my daughter arrived with a birthday cake requesting it to be placed in the fridge she was made to feel that this was an imposition. When the meals were finally served it was at varying times so some of the guests were finished before others had been served. With all of this in progress I must say that when my dinner finally arrived without even a hint of apology, I found myself unable to both eat and enjoy the meal. Even payment of the bill was not attended with any consideration of the lack of service afforded us. This restaurant is certainly not an inexpensive eating venue so I felt very disappointed that this special occasion had been ruined by lack of service, time management and empathy. Surely good customer service should underpin the standards of Sibling's reputation. I left feeling very disappointed with the Sibling Experience since I had chosen this restaurant specifically. Having to make excuses to my guests was certainly not on my agenda. Do hope I receive some feedback from Siblings to address...
Read moreSiblings had been recommended a few times as a great restaurant, my friends were right! We have had a great time at this restaurant twice in one month.
The first time we went the stars aligned, we got parking outside and didn’t book a table. I would highly recommend booking a table in advance, this place fills quickly. The restaurant overlooks Kirra beach, there is stacks of street parking but you could end up a distance away. Also there are two turns of the table for lunch and dinner.
The menu is a mix of Italian, Australia and leans heavily towards seafood. The wine menu is mainly overseas but the cocktail menu is big. We had the Gold Coast Star, it has Margot Robbie’s gin. It is light, fruity, colourful and light on the palette.
The sourdough bread is a highlight, but be warned, the portions for mains are generous. The share plates are good and many around us used that option.
As to what we had, the risotto both seafood and mushroom were big, creamy, tasty and yummy. The oysters were so fresh! The Angus steak cut like butter and melted in the mouth while the lobster special with garlic butter was cooked perfectly! They were large sized lobsters too.
If you make it through to the desserts good on you. If you don’t have doggy bags under the table by this point, colour me impressed. We shared a chocolate mousse with peanut butter core and a hard shell of chocolate around the mousse. We saw a number of people sharing the biscotti sundae which was a good size and can easily fed two.
We arrived both times at midday Queensland time, for reasons unclear the restaurant really fills in the afternoon around 1.30 pm. It is a great place to watch and enjoy the view of Kirra Beach and Surfers off in the distance. It has a lovely walking path out front, it’s great to slowly walk along and feel the sea breeze on your cheeks after...
