The Local Tavern — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

We came here based on rave reviews and the fact that when we walked past at lunch time, the place was packed. Believing that may be an indication of a great time. I rang and booked a booth, turned up, asked about out booking at the bar. Was then pointed to a table by a red headed female/male (not entirely sure) staff member. We sat, there was no menus, no drinks menu, no one coming over to indicate what the procedure was. There were roughly 5 other people in the place. Eventually I walked up to the bar, explained we'd not been before and asked where the menu was. Again, it pointed to a stack of menus and told me they had a steak sandwich special. I felt like a cocktail, again no menu. My husband asked another bar tender for a cocktail menu, he made it seem like the BIGGEST effort in the world to walk over and get us one. We finally figured out we had to order at the bar. We ate, the food was mediocre, ruined by such pathetic service. The two stars are for the two pints of Guinness my husband drank. The ONLY nice thing about the place. As we left, we didn't even get a thanks or goodbye. We have eaten at several places since being on the GC for our holiday, service everywhere else has been amazing. This place was foul. I wouldn't take my worst enemy...

Went there for dinner in a group of 7. After a struggle to actually order our meals via an app that didn’t even want to load on all phones it then took over an hour for the first 5 dishes to come out 2 of which were stone cold & horrible. The other 3 were nice but entree’s came out with their mains. Entree should come out first followed by your meal as it is a starter but apparently not here. The other 2 meals eventually came out 30 minutes later but only after several questions as to where they were.

1 cook in the kitchen. 1 Barman & 1 manager. All running around like chooks with their heads cut off. Our empty glasses & plates sat on our table for the whole 2 & a half hours we were there. No table service. No customer service. No Nothing.

The only people who were happy were the company who provide the ordering app/service & the owner. However neither of them give a hoot about the poor staff running around/working there backsides off or the consumers as long as they get their money. Definitely won’t go back...

We were down for a little getaway and trying to find somewhere that had a nice atmosphere for our little family. We found ‘The Local Tavern’ tucked away. We ordered right from the table and the service was perfect. All staff from the bar to waitresses were so accomodating. We had a Caesar salad which was so fresh and the perfect size, our children had fish and chips which was cooked to perfection, we added a side of mash and veg and both were so yummy and fresh. We had a parmi also but the star of the show was the dressing on the side salad that came with the parmi. We left and kept talking about how delicious it was so we had to message the team the following day to let them know how yummy it was but to also try and find out where to buy it, bad news is you can’t buy it but the best news is they make it in house! So lucky us will have to return to get the yummy flavours. We can’t recommend this place enough, we will be back anytime we come down to the Goldie. Thank you again...
