Nando's North Hobart — Restaurant in Hobart

Very poor customer service. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I am extremely disappointed with the Asian waitress and the restaurant manager tonight.

On Friday evening, I ordered a meal combo with sides of fries and spicy rice, along with three bottles of drinks. At the beginning, the Asian waitress, who seemed to be new, didn’t give us our drinks and didn’t double-check our order. When we received two portions of fries instead of one fries and one spicy rice, we were shocked and immediately told her she had made a mistake. She took one portion of fries away but returned later, saying the kitchen refused to replace it with the spicy rice we had ordered.

Through a local waitress, we found out that the Asian waitress had told the kitchen it was a “change of mind” rather than her mistake. We spoke to her a second time, but the issue still wasn’t resolved. On the third attempt, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager was extremely arrogant and refused to say even one word to us, acting as if we owed her money. Finally, they gave us a regular-sized spicy rice, even though we had ordered a large one. By that point, we were too tired and disappointed to argue any further and left the restaurant.

To make things worse, the table we were seated at was very dirty, and we had to clean it ourselves before sitting down.

This is the first time I’ve experienced a restaurant where a mistake in the order wasn’t corrected. I was shocked, as I had done nothing wrong—I just wanted to get the correct food. The local waitress was excellent; she tried her best to mediate but seemed to lack the authority to resolve the issue. We are very grateful to her, as she was one of the few staff members...

My family loves this place. Good place, friendly, helpful and polite staff. We always order whole chicken with two sides (plus something else). Very happy with the food Most of the time we got what we expected. Only a couple of times the chicken was a little bit burnt, garlic bread was soggy (with butter) and the original / sweet popato chips were soft. Taste wise,they were still good. It could be because they were busy (always!) Or the staff were new (saw new faces quite often).

One plus to dine here (not sure whether this is valid for other Nandos branches) is that they can provide halal chicken (on request). So this place was fully booked when we visited last time during the break of fasting time during ramadhan. Better to call and check the seat availability especially during this time rather than being disappointed.

Another thing we noticed, compared to Nandos in other states: here, when we ordered whole chicken with two large sides, we can have both large sweet potato chips without additional charge. I remembered when I visited Nandos in Melbourne (several times, different Nandos branches), they gave only small potato chips bowl (upgrade to a large bowl with additional $). I ordered a burger meal at 02pm on 10/06/2024. I waited for 20-25 mins and finally someone called my name that order is ready. When I checked the food was cold. When I get back to female staff then first she gave me very rude response we called you so many times however no one came on the side of waiting area and called my name. Maybe they keep calling from kitchen side but in crowd so hard to hear your name. And when I was giving suggestion nicely that future reference you should go near waiting area to call someone if order is ready, the manager male guy jumped in conversation and gave me very unpleasant, didn’t care at all look and walk away. Instead of getting a feedback and accepting the fault, they were putting blame on me, very disrespectful or discriminated behaviour by staff. I wont go back again but just a friendly advice to train staff again on treating everyone with same respect and happy customer service would be great benefit for you...
