It was our last dinner in Hobart and also the last meal in Tasmania. We are really glad we chose Ogee to be the finish line of our Tasmania journey.
It was everything we had wished for, good food, chill vibe and excellent service. As soon as we walked in, a bubbly staff member came to greet us and then seated us at the table directly facing a turntable and their record collection, which caught my eyes straight away as I’m a record lover myself. Nice touch.
Started our dinner with a bottle of sparkling water, followed by a glass of Negroni, which was not really to my liking, but not to say it wasn’t good, as I rarely drink and not a huge fan of liquor. Just thought I’d be a bit adventurous and order something I had never had before. Food wise, we got their maccheroni and pork neck, both of which were really scrumptious and not heavily seasoned. The pork was tender and juicy. The butter accompanying the dish was a really nice touch, especially when mixed with the lentils at the bottom. I forgot what was in the butter, but it was nothing but tasty; the pasta was well executed as well, with the right amount of sauce and acidity to it. For dessert, we had the last items on their menu, the chocolate mousse and torta cake. We both preferred the torta, and thought it was really decadent. The Nutella and cream on the side really complimented the cake flavor wise. We did enjoy the mousse, but as neither of us are big chocolate flavor lovers, we just didn’t love it as much as torta.
Service wise, it was nothing but professional and high standard. Everyone that served us was attentive and had a big smile on their face the whole time we were there. Especially the lady who first welcomed us into the restaurant. Thank you all for a very memorable and gracious night. Would love to come back again next time we are in Hobart.
P.S.: it was really interesting to watch the chef himself moving between the turntable changing records and the kitchen cooking. It was really...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at Ogee, opting for their “Let Us Feed You” menu at 95 AUD per person, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
The food was excellent, showcasing creativity and precision in every dish. Each course felt thoughtfully prepared, with a balance of flavors and textures that left us thoroughly impressed. The service was equally delightful—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without being intrusive.
Sitting at the bar counter added an intimate touch to the experience, allowing us to watch the team in action while enjoying the relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. The music, played from an old-school player, added a nostalgic charm to the setting, enhancing the cozy and warm vibe of the restaurant.
To complement the meal, we enjoyed some wonderful wine pairings, perfectly chosen to elevate each dish.
Ogee strikes a perfect balance between fine dining and a laid-back, inviting ambiance. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an elevated yet approachable dining experience. We’ll...
Read moreCame from Melbourne and we were very excited to try ogee. It has been on my list. This is my 7th visit to Hobart and I have been to so many dinner spots and revisited them again and again. Ogee disappointed us. I can understand it can come across rude when you ask for a container. But we ordered the $95 set menu and had some snacks at Sonny prior. We asked for a container towards the end. She refused us to give a container and made the whole situation and experience so uncomfortable. Later she offered us that if we really struggle to finish the food, she can give a container and that’s because we let it go when she said no at the first time. Food was ok. pasta was really nice. Oyster was nice too. Overall good value. Dessert was a flop. Conclusion, you can make the best food but if you don’t give your customer the best experience, a welcoming experience they will not come back and spend their time and money and on top feel...
