We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Malaycious and can’t wait to come back! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy ambiance that made us feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

We started with the satay skewers, and they were a fantastic way to kick off our meal. The skewers were grilled to perfection—tender and juicy with a slight char that added to the flavor. The accompanying peanut sauce was rich, creamy, and had a delightful balance of sweetness and spice. It really elevated the dish, making each bite a perfect blend of textures and flavors.

Next, we had the Chicken Laksa, which was easily the highlight of the meal. The broth was beautifully aromatic, with layers of flavor that hit all the right notes. It had just the right amount of heat—enough to give it a kick but not overpowering. The chicken was tender, and the noodles were cooked perfectly, soaking up all the delicious broth. The portion was generous, making it a hearty, comforting dish that left us completely satisfied.

Finally, we tried the braised pork, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a rich, savory sauce that had been reduced to perfection. It was the kind of dish where you savor every bite, and we found ourselves wishing there was more even after we’d finished it. The balance of flavors was masterful, with just the right amount of sweetness and umami to make it absolutely unforgettable.

Overall, Malaycious exceeded our expectations in every way. Each dish was carefully crafted with high-quality ingredients, and you could taste the attention to detail in every bite. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was outstanding. If you’re looking for an authentic, flavorful Malaysian dining experience, Malayscious is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

I am a Malaysian who have lived in Malaysia for more than 30 years before moving to Australia, so my review may be more critical than the general audience. I tried the food at Malaycious during my holiday in Launceston after seeing many good reviews. My honest take, the food is quite mediocre for Malaysian standard, but probably will be pleasant to most people who are not that familiar with the original Malaysian taste. The hainanese chicken rice would have been better cooked with the skin being silky and springy, rather than somewhat dry skin marinated with some yellowish spices. However, the chicken meat is tender and juicy which is a plus. 3.5/5 Beef rendang flavour isn't rich enough and doesn't seem to have 'kerisik' in it. It's doesn't have the spicy kick too unfortunately. Again, compliment to the effort of making the beef very tender to every bite. 3/5. Nyonya duck is quite a confusion to me. It is as though they are making something like inchi kabin, but using duck. The duck meat is very dry and chewy. Sorry but I can only rate this dish 2/5. Chicken satay is good! I'd say the peanut sauce is quite spot on. I like it that they use all the chicken thigh meat without skin, so it's worth every penny. 5/5. Ais kacang comes in a generous amount. Everything is pretty accurate, except for using mashed red beans and NO KACANG! Hmm, ais kacang without kacang is just so wrong. I also think it's not that hard to prepare fresh sweetened red beans without getting the mashed canned version. I hope the staffs will take my feedback positively and continue to improve the food quality. Definitely a friendly bunch of people. I wish their business...

We ordered the Chicken rice and the curry laksa. I mean honestly when i read the low reviews others have left, I have to say it is unfair given that it's really not that bad. The chicken was tender enough and the chicken rice chilli and ginger condiment was good (portion of it was small though). If you're after spicier style laksa, just request for extra chilli and be willing to pay as it is a small city after all. And in my opinion, the extra chilli sambal does add more taste to the broth but be warned...it is spicy :).

If you came here expecting the standard of Malaysian hawker style, then of course you'd be disappointed but keep an open mind and you'll be amazed they got the flavours right to begin with when many would've missed the mark.

Overall, my dining experience here was surprisingly pleasant. As a Malaysian myself, I didnt expect much but i have to say the attention to detail, warm hospitality, and the ability to recreate the essence of Malaysian cuisine deserve commendation, especially being the only Malaysian restaurant in Launceston, they have done a good job to bring the flavors of Malaysia here. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something Asian or a taste of Malaysia for a change.

Kudos to the chef and owner for bringing a slice of Malaysian culinary magic to the small city of Launceston.
