I recently visited Billy's Central in Melbourne Central and was absolutely delighted by the experience. This café is a gem in the heart of the city, offering both a vibrant atmosphere for those who enjoy people-watching from the outdoor seating and a more tranquil indoor space for a quieter dining experience.
Ambiance: Billy’s Central strikes the perfect balance between cozy and trendy. The indoor area is warm and welcoming, making it ideal for relaxing or catching up with friends, while the outdoor seating offers a great vantage point to take in the lively surroundings of Melbourne Central.
🍽 What We Had: ☕ Skinny Flat White ($4.5): This was perfectly brewed, offering that essential coffee kick. ☕ Almond Latte ($5): Rich and creamy, it’s a tasty twist for almond milk lovers. 🥤 Pulpy’s Super Green Juice ($7.8): A power-packed juice with kale, spinach, celery, lemon, cucumber, ginger, spirulina, and a sweet punch of pear—refreshing and energizing! 🍗 Chicken Waffle ($28): This dish brings together crispy fried chicken, bacon, and a fried egg atop a unique bubble waffle, garnished with fresh chilli, Asian herbs, sriracha mayo, sesame seeds, and maple syrup—a delightful medley of tastes in every bite. 🐟 Hash & Salmon ($27): Our savory highlight was the house-made crispy hash brown paired with smoked salmon rosette, poached egg, drizzled with kale pesto, topped with dill cream cheese, crispy capers, and a squeeze of fresh lemon, making each forkful wonderfully complex.
Service: The service at Billy’s Central deserves a special mention. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was quick and efficient, which was impressive given how busy the café was.
Overall: Billy’s Central is a brilliant choice for anyone looking for a great brunch or lunch spot in Melbourne. The combination of delicious food, excellent coffee, and welcoming atmosphere makes it stand out. It’s also conveniently located, making it easy to pop in during a day of shopping or sightseeing around Melbourne Central.
I highly recommend Billy’s Central to locals and tourists alike. It’s definitely a place I look forward to...
Read moreGREAT OPTION FOR EARLY BREAKFAST WHEN SHOPPING AT EMPORIUM Discovered this gem today while hunting for a place that was open in Emporium for breakfast. Technically it's just inside Melbourne Central as you walk across the bridge from the food court level in Emporium. Great service. Our waiter explained the menu, got us started with coffee and and green tea while we worked our way through the quite extensive menu that offers all day dining. There is an inner dining area (where we sat) as a well as many more tables in the open area adjacent to the bridge walk. You can stop by just for a coffee or have a meal. There is also bench seating with laptop power supply for those digital nomads wanting to work while eating / drinking here! I ordered the "breakfast board" (see picture below) which was an interesting mix of sweet potato crumpet, soft poached egg, salmon, heirloom tomato and greens, a delicious granola and a watermelon drink... very fresh and full of flavour. A very generous serving size as well. My eating companion had a simpler toast, avocado and mushroom dish that was equally as fresh and well presented. The green tea was served in a generous-sized japanese teapot. The coffee was just right for me (I like my long black with a bite but not too bitter). The staff stopped by the table a few times to make sure everything was OK. My companion decided to have a coffee (after the green tea) as we were finishing our breakfast and the waiter thoughtfully offered the option of a takeaway coffee if we'd prefer.. great anticipatory customer focus! The restaurant is very modern and comfortable. People with mobility issues will have no problems at all as its all completely level and there are no steps and generous spaces between tables. Public toilets are just nearly in the Emporium Food Court as well as in Melbourne Central. The restaurant takes credit cards and cash. Overall - great menu, good service and a nice alternative to the Emporium Food Court.....

It’s the best spot for breakfast, brunch, or a coffee if you’re around the city, or before/after shopping or a movie with your friends/loved ones, also the greenery-filled corridor gives such a calm vibe which is perfect for studying or working too!🥰 It’s super convenient, relaxing, and I’d recommend booking ahead since it can get crowded during peak hours…
The food was next level 🤌🏽😭 and the staff were so friendly (which is a big deal for me because if the staff vibe isn’t good, I won’t go back no matter how good the food is 😅) You can sit inside or outside, I sat inside for the pics hehe🤭but the outside seating has such a nice chill vibe too..
