I discovered this place while searching for a spot with solid reviews for poke bowls. We were greeted, albeit a bit dry by the server and took our seats. The server, along with what seemed to be the owner, took our order, and it didn't take long until our food arrived. We ordered a poke bowl and a teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki chicken was okay, nothing special. I would have preferred more rice, and the chicken tasted a bit bland with not much flavor. The poke bowl had better flavor and was fresh. It was an okay place; the service wasn't the best, and the food was decent but a bit underwhelming.

This gem perfected their lunch service offerings for the office workers nearby. This is important context to appreciate Tengu😇 Courteous staffs, fast service and no fuss. The lead time from order to table is above average. The serve size maybe on the smaller size but just right to tame the hunger without feeling heavy for afternoon work. This is a stellar lunch spot that serves the right lunch time fix😚 Looking forward to check out the cosy space upstairs and the poke bowls😋 next time😁 Thank you to the front staff for greeting me as I was leaving with a feed just right for the office days🙏

Another gem that's tucked away in our city's side streets. Tengu has a nice comfy atmosphere, no doubt it would be pretty neat see when the lunch rush hits. I had the Katsu Curry Don. I was surprised and impressed with the chicken's crunchy outer crust, definitely could hear and feel the crunch. Tengu, gave the Katsu a nice curry bath which had a pleasant kick when dipped with the Katsu. For me, the rice was a good amount but could be an issue for the rice lover. If you're looking for that quick pick me up feed, come and check them out.

Came back in DEC 2024 and the salmon Poke bowl was still delicious. Upgraded to 5/5 😊.

ORDERED OCT 2024: 🐠🍜 Tengu Salmon Poke Bowl: I chose [soba] base and [tengu wasabi mayo] dressing. With fresh salmon sashimi, edamame beans, avocado, carrot, cabbage and pickled vegetables. Topped with roasted sesame seeds and Japanese furikake ($19.80) 🥣 Miso soup ($3.50)

I paid $23.30 here. No card surcharge! 🤩

REVIEW: ❤ The Poke bowl at Tengu was delicious. My favourite parts: Soba noodles separated easily. I have a fear that they'll clump up, but Tengu ensured their soba noodles weren't sticky! The wasabi mayo added an incredible spicy-sweetness to the dish, really making the overall flavour profile really enjoyable. Salmon sashimi was cubed which meant I could actually taste the salmon sashimi!

Service was bare bones. We were gestured to go upstairs then we sat ourselves and ordered through the QR code. Tap water is available on request when they bring your food & cutlery. After that, you're left to your own devices.

😼 The interior has some really interesting aspects. Fun pictures of cats on the stairwell, an incredible skylight upstairs with an overall minimalistic and calming vibe.

Tengu is a great stop for lunch if you're looking for a delicious, healthier...
