Got $100 worth of lunch items today; a bit miffed as I had ordered 8 fish rolls as the first item but he didn't check until the end and there were only 6 and asked if I could wait another 10min to cook some more. The order was also interrupted as he broke off to serve a Sri Lanken girl that came in mid order. It was not pre ordered as she had to tell him what she wanted. Not great customer service; had the food not been as good I would have gone elsewhere.
Food still good but service was not as good as before. I have been coming here every few weeks for the last 8-10 years and today I was very disappointed. It was 11.30am and they were still setting up and, while the kitchen had a big takeaway order, surely ensuring the hot counter in the shop is full on opening should be a priority. A hidden gem in Melbourne, Mango Tree offers an incredible dining experience that goes beyond just the food (though that's phenomenal too!). The friendly staff makes you feel welcome from the moment you step in, and the delicious snacks are a perfect way to whet your appetite while you browse the menu.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the biryani rice with fish curry. This dish is an absolute triumph. The biryani is fragrant and perfectly cooked, each grain separate and bursting with flavor. The fish curry is a revelation – rich, complex, and beautifully balanced with just the right amount of heat. It's a symphony of textures and tastes that will leave you wanting more.
One minor caveat: parking can be a bit of a challenge. But trust me, the delicious food and warm atmosphere are worth the extra effort to find a spot. Especially when you consider the Ritha they serve – it's simply the best in Melbourne! It's the perfect way to cleanse your palate and end your meal on a refreshing note.
Overall, Mango Tree is a must-visit for anyone looking for a delightful and authentic dining experience. Just be prepared to strategize a bit for parking specially...

Plus if someone wants a chutney & if it doesn’t normally come with a certain item & the customer is willing to pay for it, sell it to them ?!?! your front of house staff are a very important part of your business..the place has gone downhill, unfortunately.. it was one of my favourite places in Dandenong to get takeout... I gave it many goes but this dreadful customer service continues... absolutely shocking!!!! Great food, Story ends there... really...
