If you’re going for the igloo experience I would lower expectations for the food and service received. The good: It looks great and certainly unique to Newcastle. Great for a catch up with friends. Unfortunately that’s about it. The bad: For $100 a person with an immediate booking fee of $500 the service and food falls incredibly short of expectations. What felt like pre prepared meals you could get from a food truck and still be fresher. Next we had to wait about 30 minutes between each meal - for a set menu, half of which was uncooked veggies. Then rushed to get out so the next booking can be accommodated while we were still on mains. Not once offered drinks and could not get the attention of anyone as they are flat out inside.
Unfortunately it seems only 2/3 people were serving and had trouble keeping up. I don’t understand how you could have delays on set menus - especially ones that are pre made/ cold. And do not make the delays in the kitchen the customers problem.
If you want to charge $100 per person then the service needs to improve dramatically. For a similar amount, upstairs roundhouse would’ve been much more fitting.
Overall it seems like cafe level service and food charging at a rate you’d expect at a top class restaurant in Newcastle such as flotilla/ roundhouse or...
Read moreReview for winter dome experience: Surprisingly disappointed for such a unique experience and setting. The food was VERY poor. We spoke to other guests who said the same, which makes this very overpriced for what it is. We had agreed on vegetarian food options and non alcoholic drink options in advance over the phone/email, but what we agreed did not take place on the day. We were told there was not a non alcoholic option for one of the drinks. Some of the dishes never came out, the truffle fries were cold, the camembert was under cooked, and we had no idea what some of the alternative dishes were because the server left without explaining and we never got chance to ask. The chocolate fondue was so burnt we had to sadly send it back. We felt very hurried out at the end of our time slot. One of our friends had to leave early, but when they asked if they could have their second cocktail before dessert they were told no because all drinks had to come out at the same time and weren’t ready yet. We never received her drink even after she left. The service was poor. I left some candles behind the bar and when I asked for them back they appeared to have been lost. Fortunately the setting made up for such poor food quality but overall would probably not recommend...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The food was exceptional and drinks were delicious. I felt you were a little understaffed though. The two young waiters we had were fantastic and doing a great job, however there was some confusion about our booking. They originally brought us a non-alcoholic sharing cocktail when we definitely wanted the alcohol version and only enough food for 6, when our booking was for 7. As stated, the waiters did a great job at rectifying both mix ups. The thing that left us disappointed was that there was no snow! We were promised so and it would have really added to our experience. At first, they had forgotten about the snow, so we asked about it towards the end of our dining experience, they brought out the machine, but never plugged it in as they couldn't find the liquid that goes in it. Overall, we had an amazing time, however it would have been perfect had we gotten the snow and not had to ask for the alcohol and food that was forgotten. We'll be back next...
