3.5 stars Chinese style breakfast shop. Venue: Parking at street or carparks nearby. Very casual setting. Cozy decoration. Very well air conditioning though the door is always opened. The self-service corner (Chinese notice only) is at the high table near the front desk. Besides high table, there are 4 tables for 2-4pp each. Tidy and clean ---6.8/10 Service: Menus are available at the entrance and the front desk. Order and pay at the cashier. Get all of the utensils, tissues, and seasonings at the self-service corner. No tap water provided. All Food and drinks are available at front desk, so served fast when not busy. --- 6.5/10 Food: very simple menu with limited selection. They are serving Chinese buns and some Fujian 福州 (or Fuzhou) street food. All food and precooked and kept hot/warm at the front desk. Resonable price, snack size. Presentation is not essential. Pork Xiao Long Bao, $10/6: seriously not recommended. Chinese must know 小籠包 traditional Xiao Long Bao is Steamed Pork Dumpling and not doughy bun. These buns were strained to other sauces. Not attractive. It's just mini steamed pork bun. Please change this item's name to mini steamed pork buns. They are also selling bigger shallot pork bao. --- 2/10 Tea Sauce Egg, $2: served very hot. Just soy sauce egg. No tea flavor. --- 5/10 Chive Fried Cake, $3.99: in an irregular shape. The fillings are chive, egg and Vermicelli. Outside was still cripsy--- 7.2/10 Taro Fried Cake, $3: Fujian style, with some chopped spring onions. --- 7/10 Soy Milk, $3: Options for hot/cold and sugar/plain (sugar-free). We order cold and no sugar. That's pretty good. Good portion. Prepacked in paper...
Read moreAbsolutely a must try place! The baos/ buns are all freshly made with no preservatives. They wrap the buns in the kitchen, steam them and the buns get brought out straight to the front where you see them displayed through the windows.
They do try their best to make as many as possible due to high demands! But It's always soooo Busy!! Packed with people buying a lot at one go.
Do recommend coming before 11:30am where all of the items are still available. Prepared to be a little disappointed if you get there late 😜!
Do recommend the peanut sauce noodles, shallot pork buns, vegetable buns, beef fried cakes if you are a savoury kind of person!
But if you are a sweet tooth kind of person, don't worry! They have Red Bean buns (New item), Taro Paste Buns (New item) , pumpkin buns, and brown sugar...
Read moreWe decided to try out this place as it's quite different cuisine compared to other Chinese restaurants. It's apparently a Sha district cuisine in the Fujian province. I saw something called 锅边 which reminds me of 鼎边糊 made by Fuzhou people in Malaysia. So I decided to try it, the noodle pieces are similar, as in they are thicker and starchy, but the soup base is different. The one here has some clams, dried small shrimps and seaweed. To my taste, the soup is on the salty side.
We also ordered a pumpkin mantou and a Chinese chives wrap. They're okay as expected and we enjoyed them. Quite disappointed that they ran out of soy...
