Home of Torung Market – Almost Perfect, Just Needs More Sauce
If you’re craving Thai food that actually tastes like someone’s Thai grandma made it, then Home of Torung Market in Northbridge is where you wanna be. This place doesn’t do watered-down, Westernized Thai—it’s the real deal, and you can taste it in every bite.
The service? Surprisingly solid. We were in and out in about 10 minutes, which is basically speedrun levels of efficiency in the restaurant world. The staff were friendly, the vibe was welcoming, and you could tell they actually cared about making sure everyone had a good meal.
Now, the food—this is where things get serious. Every dish had that homemade, straight-from-the-streets-of-Bangkok kind of flavor. It wasn’t just good; it was almost 5-star level. The only thing holding it back? Not enough dipping sauce. Listen, sauce is important. Sauce elevates. Sauce completes the experience. And when you’re left rationing it like you’re in the middle of an apocalypse, it hurts.
As for the atmosphere, it was solid—good lighting, good layout, and just the right amount of background noise to make it feel alive but not chaotic. It’s the kind of place you could bring a date, your mates, or your parents, and everyone would leave happy.
Final Verdict: 4/5 – This place is so close to perfection. If they were just a little more generous with the sauce, we’d be talking about a 5-star legend here. Still, the food is authentic, delicious, and well worth the visit. Just maybe ask for extra sauce upfront so you don’t end up fighting for the last drop like it’s...

Read moreHaving been to Thailand, Thai cuisine remains one of my favourite cuisines to date! Torung market does some very good dishes. We ordered just a couple of random items from the menu, the duck curry, pork jowl and a special fermented pork sausage and rice dish were all very good. The food did take quite a long time to come out but the restaurant was at full capacity and there were even people sitting outside when we came. In terms of good Thai flavours, they do know their stuff! Better out there? Yeah I think so, but the dishes aren’t bad by any standard.
The waitress (yes, singular) was flying around the restaurant serving everyone and doing a very good job at it considering how busy they were! It probably hampered her friendly demeanour somewhat but she was nice enough. The venue is quite small and although there’s outdoor seating it was a bit of a squeeze to seat just 4 of us, it will probably be hard to get a big group in.
If you like Thai food then give it a go! I think some people may find a few of their...
