11/11/2019 Monday 5:30 P. M. Tested the waters with the $35 unlimited set and set a low expectations but i was blown away how that $35 just turned a frustrating day into a memorable happy day for my family walking around north bridge to help with the digestion of the meat we packed inside our stomachs.. Charcoal cooked meat will always be greater than stove grilled meat.. 5/5 Food I have a way to tell if a korean restaurant would be good or not base on their kimchi, if they made their own kimchi I'll immediately know because one of the first dish I fell in love with korean cuisine is kimchi.. if they made their own kimchi I know that they are decent enough restaurant to pursue the satisfaction of their customer using one small side dish.. In Ktown we got served with their very own batch of kimchi and by talking to the owner how delicious it is I know that she's proud of doing it and even more proud about the fact that she is one of the few restaurants that serve their own homemade kimchi.. I'm praising them with their kimchi just imagine how happy I was when i was eating their succulent pork belly, well marinated LA ribs and Soy pork, juicy beef tips and that fiery spicy chicken that's not hot enough to burn my tongue but just enough to numb it .. I just have wave after wave of those meat that filled us up with happy feelings.. The rating is 5/5 because each dollar for that $35 set is well spent and i would be willing to go there again to enjoy.. In that price range I'm still surprised how well I enjoyed the meal.. 3/5 Facilities Now i don't know how long they have been operating but there are certain parts of their restaurant that needs to improve.. Given they are using charcoal to cook there would be enough smoke coming out on everyone's grill but the problem starts when someone burns their bbq, like what happened earlier to us where we are sitted near the entrance while someone from the back started to burn their meat and the draft carried all of their smoke to our side.. We didn't get annoyed by it but I could imagine it could be a problem for customers that would be too fussy about getting smoked even though that smoke carries the beautiful smell of meat. Other minor improvement would be in the guys restroom.. my dad almost tripped because there two small steps going down the toilet, there is a warning by the door that tells us to watch our step but i think it would be better to make it clearer what we should we be more aware.. other than this i think a 3/5 for facilities is fairly justified.. 5/5 Staff ANOTHER important thing for me when I'm dining to restaurants, if someone is bringing our food or if it's self-service staff should be aware that they have more weight in affecting customers satisfaction more than the food because everybody knows that appetite is deeply rooted in a person's mood.. For Ktown's staff there are two ladies that helped us all throughout our time with them and they have been helpful and really informative in certain aspect of the menu, an example would be when I got asked what soup would be given to us since it's included with a meal I'm familiar with kimchi soup and seafood soup but they are offering army soup, this piqued my interest so I asked the lady that is taking our order what it is and she enumerated to us all the ingredients that would be in that soup, which led to us getting army soup for dinner..they are nice and patient there's only 4 us but we had 3 platter of meat, they are not late and we didn't wait for too long.. I hope Ktown would remain strong and be in business for a very very long time because now they are our main go to korean bbq restaurant whenever my family is craving for it..

I was my first time coming here. The food selection was okay; there was an okay amount of meats to choose from. The service was okay. There was a shortage of staff when I visited; the staff were welcoming but also seemingly inexperienced. The overall atmosphere was nice. I'm glad that we sat at the outdoor seating area because the air quality was a little bit better than inside where there was a visible thick layer of smoke in the air (should consider better ventilation). The lighting was a little dim but we still managed to get by. One of the downsides was that the charcoal grill was very inefficient. I've been to other Korean BBQ restaurants that use charcoal and their grills are more efficient and cook faster. I find that I couldn't make the most of what I paid for (Buffet Set B - $55 per person) because the meat didn't cook fast enough and we had only 2 hours limit for the buffet. We spent more time waiting for the meat to cook than eating which was very inconvenient. Another concern was that I found the grill unsafe. When the grill had meat or fats stuck to it, it catches on fire and makes a big flame. I understand that at the time of our visit, there was a shortage in staff but it took them a while to notice us calling for them to change our grill and for them to notice the big flame at our table. Either way, this negligence did not make me feel safe being in front of a tall open flame. I could have had my face burnt. Hanging out was fun but I personally wouldn't come again. It's not worth it.

WORST ever!!! A COCKROACH was ON our table! This place needs to do its pest control for all the outdoor dining environment, no one deserves a cockroach on their dining table or potentially in their food! We spent 5 mins getting rid of it and the whole time NO ONE came to help, or even ask what happened afterwards(we were literally screaming and saying out loud there’s a cockroach, surely someone heard). Not only was place concerning with pest issues, it was super super SMOKY! Everyone on our table was coughing our way through dinner because it was soo POORLY VENTILATED! Having no vents and plastic tent roof all over the back dining area is only going to trap all the smoke down. They also didn’t have a table for us ready even though we booked 1-2 weeks in advance. Put us on a table and added extra chairs. Tteokbokki stir fried with double noodle was in a very shallow pan and put on gas stove. There are barely enough sauce to cover it and it got burned up so quickly with the fire. When we ate the rice cake it was half not cooked through. The middle was still hard like it had just been defrosted and heated in microwave! Pork belly was so fat it dripped heaps of oil into the coal and all the meat caught on fire and became burnt! Fire was like 30cm high and don’t go out for 2 mins and no staff came to assist. Poor service, some staff seemed u professional and didn’t even know how to put one of the plate on the little gas stove. Probably won’t be back for good…

If you are a Korean BBQ lover, you must read this review.

I live in Australia and although my thought on Korean BBQ here is great, that thought slowly disappeared after my trip to South Korea. My love for food got me searching for the best Korean BBQ is Seoul. I’ve dined in many restaurants that serves Korean BBQ in Seoul but neither of those restaurants could compete with my favourite restaurant in Perth. Let’s just say, I wasn’t very moved by the Korea BBQ in Seoul. Well, not until my last meal in the country. It was a spontaneous trip to grab our last meal before we leave the country. My partner and I chose the closes restaurant to our hotel and which it turns out to be that the restaurant changed my whole perspective on Korean BBQ.

The restaurant was very small and it probably had 10 tables only. The meat were cooked on a charcoal grill (not a gas top) and there were many tasty condiments that compliment with the meat. I was extremely expressed. I can honestly say, the meat that are cooked on charcoal grill will always taste better than the meat that are cooked on a gas top.

After returning home, I have traveled across Australia trying to find a Korean BBQ restaurant that has the same cooking process but no luck was found. My partner and I always return to our favourite Korean BBQ restaurant in Perth as it appears to be the best in Perth.... until last night.

We had stumbled across ktown last night when initially decided on going else where for dinner. First impression of the restaurant was confusing. They had a table set up at the very front entrance. We were told to go in from the side and as soon as we (my partner) walked in, all staff said hello in Korean. We were seated at a table under the TV. Ktown have set memus and among other dishes that you can order from separately. We decided to go for the set menu at the price of $35pp. This set menu includes Kimchi or seafood pancakes, japchae, Korean BBQ meat, kimchi or spicy tofu soup, steam rice and side dishes. What makes this menu special is that you can order unlimited meat if you require more at no extra cost. But in contrast, if you were to have left over meat as it is considered as wastage, you will be charged at xxx amount per 100g. We also ordered kimbap which is Korean sushi.

For a very long time since my best meal in Seoul, I felt at ease. I have finally found my Korean BBQ which I’ve been searching for and it’s located in my city! I can honestly say that what we’ve ordered was valued for money. There is a cheaper set memu that cost $25 pp. However, you don’t get the pancakes with that set. The meat were cooked on a charcoal grill and it was marinated perfectly like it should. There was 5 condiments that was tasty too. I would consider the flavoursome as authentic. The services was excellent. The set menu that we’ve ordered would suit more than 2 people as there was much food to consume. Overall, we had a great experience at Ktown and I would highly recommend those who love Korean BBQ to come here. It is BYO, so make it rain!

KTown has definitely made it on top of my favourite Korean BBQ list. It brought back good memories from Seoul.

Bye for now. I’ll see you on my next review on the hunt for the...

Booked a table for 3. Arrived at 6:30pm. Gave us a really small table suitable for two people and the two people would barely fit. Ordered 3 sets of SET A buffet. Sat down and waited 15 minutes for food to arrive. Food arrived but our fire never got started. Waited another 15 minutes which is a total of 30 minutes gone. Took me 4 times to tell them to start the fire, finally did, with 3 really small pieces of charcoal. After finishing our first plate of meat, I specifically asked for beef and pork only, which was 2 plates of beef and one plate of pork. Female waitress gave us just a plate of chicken. Like if you can’t give our just beef and pork just tell me but somehow they just gave us chicken. I asked them for a plate of beef and pork since they only gave us chicken, then waitress gave us sauce instead which I didn’t ask for, since we already had sauce on our table. Then I asked them another 3 times for more meat (pork and beef) finally the male waitress came with more meat. But when the meat came (regular plate of beef, chicken and pork combined )the fire was out, since the two small pieces of charcoal wouldn’t last long.I asked them over 10 times for more coal so we could start the fire, no joke 10 times! We waited a total of 45 mins from 7:00pm to 7:45pm. We couldn’t cook any meat and finally the coal came at 7:45. We request more meat at 8:05pm and the fire was starting to become low again. Asked the waitresses for more charcoal, got completely ignored and all they said was “yes, yes, yes” once, and the rest of the time they ignored me and walked past me thinking my arm in the air was invisible. Like I get you’re busy but they specifically had 2 staff members doing the coal and every other table had a lot of fire and was enjoying there meal, and the two staff members was just chatting. Like there is clearly something wrong with our table and coal. I then went up to them and kindly asked for more coal. Charcoal never came and me and my friends just started snapping our spare chopsticks and placing it in the 2 tiny pieces of coal to start the fire again. Fire only lasted 2 minutes and at 30 ish minutes later the staff members decided ‘oh it’s time to do my job again’. At 8:35pm, they came out with two coals on our table and 5 on the other table of two people whose fire was actually blasting already and I don’t see them asking for coal. At 8:45pm they said it was last order so ordered another plate of meat and it never came. After waiting for 20 mins asking them multiple times, I decided to leave. I highly do not recommend this place and I think it’s not the same K Town mentioned on the reviews. When you come make sure you ask them multiple times for the things you want as they will...
