I’m a regular at Hemingway and always get iced oat Matcha lattes. Got one today and it was terrible as it tasted sour and like something was wrong with the milk. I told the staff and the lady was adamant that there would be nothing wrong with the milk and acted like it was just my problem and that they ‘serve a lot of matchas each day’. I said yes I know you do because I come here regularly and usually enjoy them but today this tastes like something is off. They gave me a green tea as replacement because I didn’t trust the milk but damn that was a $7 green tea…. . Definitely did not appreciate the defensiveness and them acting like I must have just not liked matcha or it was all in my head or I was just being weird …. Not great. Will get my matchas elsewhere...
Read moreI went to get a friand and a coffee . I wasn’t aware that it’s called friand and i asked if they had a small blueberry muffin kind of thing which they serve . The Asian guy serving me said they don’t sell muffins and started boasting that he has been there since the cafe started and he knows very well. So I replied again saying it is a blueberry cake sort of thing to which he then said oh, it might be a friand. I googled in later and it was indeed a friand but the way he said was rude and loud to an extent that the other employees started staring and could listen to our conversation . I haven't tried the coffee, but I can vouch for the hojicha and chai lattes. The hojicha is a bit on the expensive side, but it's always tasty.
