My husband, daughter and I stayed 3 nights over the long weekend. We were in room 1.|The staff are very helpful and there is no lift being a heritage hotel, however they will help with bags if you need. We went into the pub and the young man took us upstairs.|Kylie was very helpful checking us in.|Our room was large with 2 separate bedrooms, a luggage and hanging room and a lovely bathroom. Towels are large and thick.|Only odd thing is no tissues.|You can't open the windows but the air con worked very well.|There's tea coffee and a kettle and a fridge. Also cold water.|Both bedrooms have a TV.|Yes it is a bit noisy as they unfortunately have a smokers garden and room 1 is above that, but after it closes at midnight, it goes quiet.|Our remedy for that was to have our tv on loudish. They also provide earplugs.|The meals are very nice and big serves. You get 10% off too which is very nice of them.|There's a convenience store opposite.|His magesties car park 40 meters away too.|We were very happy here and have booked again although the email was wrong in price to what we negotiated with Kylie and that's my only complaint, they don't seem to reply to email so I will...
Read moreThe room is clean and its location is supreme, however with not much decoration and the colour is quite pale. The bathroom is big enough, which actually can spare some space to accommodate the beds To our astonishment, There were 3 days with no cleaning service! The bed is too soft, my husband and I both had neck and back pain after staying for ~7 days. The staff responsible for room service threw away our environmentally friendly shopping bag. It contains bottles and plastic to be recycled. We forgot to take them out to recycle and discovered that these containers and the bag containing them were all treated as rubbish and were thrown away!!! The manager managed to compensate a little bit in cash for us when we checked out.
The receptionist is “hidden” inside a room and the lobby &walkway to the rooms are very very quiet! They can be called out if we ringed them up using the telephone provided.
We can easily access the shops in CBD right after walking out of the hotel, which is...
Read moreNightcap at the Belgian Beer Cafe sounds like a nice alternative to mainstream accommodation. It is an old pub hotel with no reception. We were texted the wrong entry code so initially we could not enter. Fortunately, the adjoining bar staff provided us with the proper code that we could enter with. Upstairs, we were slowly processed by an unfriendly lady that may have done double duties in housekeeping. The room we got was smaller than usual. The bathroom that looks nice in the pictures had black mould in the shower. Not to mention that noise was also coming from the downstairs bar. That must be the reason that a large bowl containing earplugs are available at upstairs. The WIFI code on the information card both at the common area and in the room were incorrect and therefore did not provide connection to the internet. Overall very disappointed, feeling mislead. There should be a significant amount of discount given. Fortunately our booking is only...
