Besides the sashimi the food was awful! We ordered sashimi, salmon taco, beef ribs and the pork belly. The salmon taco lacked flavour and was basically salmon rice and lettuce, you couldn’t taste the yuzu and there was no trace of avocado. The disappointment continued with beef ribs in a gravy type sauce 3 little pieces and an extra bare bone just to mock the fracked you paid $31 for this. The pork belly was rubbery and dry with skin that had no crackle to it. It was as if it was cooked last week and reheated a few times. We also ordered a beer and 1 yuzu fizz I removed the ice that I asked not to have and noticed the glass was only 1/3 full I brought it to the waiter’s attention and he said he can’t make it without the big chunks of ice because that’s the recipe at $7 a pop for 2 sips although tasted nice really made me feel ripped off. People that have said this is the best sushi place ever need to get out more!!!! Maybe try Nobu ? Even Woolworths sushi taste better. My daughter had the tuna avocado sushi and at the reasonable price of $12 I made it clear to the waiter that she’s allergic to sesame seeds 3 times I confirmed it. He said we don’t put sesame seeds on the outside. When the dish arrived to the table the sushi was covered in black and white sesame seeds. 🤦🏻♀️ The past reviews must have been from family and friends or people that seriously haven’t had good Japanese. After leaving the pork belly dish basically untouched and getting stung $145 this place definitely left a very bad taste in our mouths. Definitely won’t be back and highly recommend...
Read moreThis is a modern-style Japanese restaurant that looks great and serves up-market Izakaya-esque dishes (you could almost consider it Japanese tapas). It's centrally located which is handy for heading to events before or after, and the service is friendly (although we did wait a short while for someone to notice we required drink refills).
We had Edamame (coated in miso salt which was amazing, never had that before), gyoza (very nice, but I've yet to encounter a bad one), 5pcs of Tuna Nigiri (very soft and easy to eat, temperature of the rice was perfect, 9/10 fantastic), beef gyudon "taco" (the taco is a tempura seaweed shell with sushi rice and toppings which gives you the flavours of sushi in the form of a taco, an unusual combo but I absolutely loved it), the beef ribs (3 pieces which was a very small dish but the meat and sauce were delicious), and a green tea tiramisu (I think I actually prefer it to 'proper' tiramisu, very nice).
Prices are a little high for what you get but that's fairly standard for Perth (can't be compared to an actual Izakaya obviously), and it was all fantastic quality so we were very happy overall and will definitely be going again...
Read moreOh boy, kicking ourselves for not trying this place any earlier after reading the mixed Google reviews. Absolutely divine food with every single dish and excellent customer services! Anthony is one of the super star staff here who is an absolute delight! It is so hard to pick a favourite dish here as each one of them has its own uniqueness! But if I had to pick one, it’ll have to be the Miso Toothfish, and the Karubi Ribs for my husband. We go all out every time we come here as we just cannot limit ourselves to certain dishes. As per other Google reviews & recommendations, duck meatballs is super delicious and does get sold out every now and then. This place certainly is very comparable to Nobu but won’t empty your pockets as fast! The only thing to be aware of is the seatings are a little cramped and lighting is a little dim inside (if you have any eye sight disorder in the dark) but otherwise I absolutely love the atmosphere too :) Thank goodness it’s better to be late than never to discover this place! We’ll become a regular...
